Guest guest
I have had the same problem. So much so that I am going back to the 25 mg injection kits with my next order. They are supposed to be tomorrow. I would much rather take two injections that only hurt a pin prick to the to the one injection that feels like glass chards going in my leg. Jane [ ] 50mg Enbrel I just took my 2nd shot of the new 50mg dose of Enbrel. The first shot was last week and it HURT!!! So this week I mustered up the courage to give myself the shot, convincing myself it was just a fluke that it hurt so bad, and it wasn't going to hurt this time....boy was I wrong. It hurt so bad that I couldn't even finish taking the shot! How many people are having this problem? I would rather take 2 shots of 25mg than go through this every week. Guest guest
I called Enliven services a couple of times on this subject. They hedged but several people I know say the same thing -- the needle seems to need a lot more pressure to penetrate the skin. Call the company and complain. Guest guest
--- Hi Jane, I still take the two of the 25 mg-you can get it (Enbrel) into one syringe so you will only need one pin prick-the nurse showed my daughter and me-she said she didn't understand why other nurses in Drs. offices don't show their patients so they didn't need to use both shots-you just need to put the Enbrel into the same syringe. Hope this helps. I was happy. God Bless, Sue. In , " Jane Celentano " <mjcathy@c...> wrote: > > I have had the same problem. Guest guest
That's true, Rae. I do my injections into my tummy, though. I just thought that would hurt the least. I tried the 50mg Enbrel, and the needles were so blunt, I've gone back to the 25mg. It also seems to last better for me. I wonder which y'all are getting. Guest guest
At my appointment recently, the rheumy Fellow said they had not had any complaints about dull needles with the 50mg Enbrel, but they had had complaints about it not lasting a full week. I can't imagine why no one has complained about those dull needles. Sue
Guest guest
I just used the 50 mg for the first time. It did seem like it was tougher than usual to get the needle through the 2nd layer of skin(?), but what was really obvious to me was that the injection of the medicine burned. I've never had that before. I guess it is more diluted, thus stronger. Guest guest
Sue, The 50 mg Enbrel I got does not need to be mixed up, which is great for me - I do not have to depend upon my husband to do all that stuff. BUT I let it sit out for at least 30 minutes (set a timer) and then inject. It hurts less, the first time I did it I just injected it from the fridge. WOW brought tears to my eye! ( Yesterday i got my ears pierced, didn't even flinch or hurt) so you know the short hurt. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I didn't get the burning sensation. I always let it warm up a bit before injecting, and then inject very slowly. Guest guest
How long do you let your enbrel warm up? Also, There is always a sudsy film on the top. Is that normal. Should I wait until the film dissipates? Cristen Re: [ ] Re: 50mg Enbrel I didn't get the burning sensation. I always let it warm up a bit before injecting, and then inject very slowly. Guest guest
I just get it out of the refrigerator, mix it, and then do something else for 15-20 minutes, then inject. After waiting, the sudsy film, or bubbles, will dissipate some, but I don't wait until they go away completely. Guest guest
Sue, I had to be off of some of my meds, due to an infection with tongue surgery and it not healing, I also had to take Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments. This created something with my Asthma and lungs, so after the tongue started to heal, I had a pretty bad case of walking pneumonia. So I have just started back on everything, Prednisone, Plaquinel, Celebrex, MTX and Enbrel. I take my Enbrel on Monday and Mtx on Thursday, I do feel a " let down/flare by about Sunday PM " but I am also more tired because I am finally feeling better and like doing something I am sure time will tell, but for right now I am just loving life! Even though I have all this other stuff, I am not sick, I look in the mirror and my face is not grey and you cannot " hear " me breathing or joints popping. I will keep you posted if the shots wear off more, but right now it is fine, other than a little bit more pain than with a normal injection. Guest guest
Carol, do you find that the weekly injections last as well as the twice weekly? I didn't think they did, so I switched back to the 25 mg. I don't have any problem mixing it up. It's almost automatic now that I'm used to it.
