Guest guest
, I just wanted to tell you that I too have had horrible problems with my larynx, voice box and esophagus. It is definetly related to the RA flares. I was referred to an ENT specialist immediately when he looked at my throat. I do not have tonsils but in the place where my tonsils would be, I have white patches. I have very inflamed and enlarged voice box and a growth of some sort farther down. ( 30 cm from tip of nose) ( I suspect a RA nodule, just my own opnion), the ENT has never seen anything that looked like this before. Even though he is one of the top dogs at this teaching university hospital med center. I have a follow up appointment with him this week. From what I have read the larynx and surrounding areas are often affected by RA. I have some relief after being on the methotrexate for the last 7 weeks but I do still have days where I get alot of pain in the voice box area, and at times get a spasm type pain similar to swallowing something like a whole hard candy or tortilla chip, lower down my esophagus. I sure hope your tonsilectomy helps alleviate your problems. Faith
