Guest guest
Sometimes I sweat at night when I think my lungs are clear. I just double up on the TTO for a day or two and that usually fixes it. Go figure!
Guest guest
Dear , MAC can cause night sweats, and sweats during the day. Our regular lung infections such as staph can also cause the “sweats.” Year round, I keep a fan in my room. Often it provides relief night or day. Using the fan, drinking cold water, excluding caffeinated beverages, and putting a cold cloth around my neck have been helpful. It is important that other causes be excluded. Thyroid can cause a long list of symptoms. It is good that your doctor is being thorough. In woman,I think that our hormonal changes such as our monthly periods and menopause can be linked to flushing and sweats. Hormonal changes have been medically linked to asthma attacks. My asthmna is affected, although my current GP has never heard of hormonal asthma. A study was done by National Jewish Hospital in Denver, concluded that monthly cycles can cause asthma attacks, as can pregnancy changes, and menopause. I hope you find some relief soon. Guest guest
Hi Lee, In my case, its not relate to menopause, because I am too young and not due to nervousness. Night sweats and flushing may be one way our body is responding as it fights bacteria and inflammation cycles. A father of a CF child told me that his daughter’s specialist told him flushing, red cheeks happens, as bronch. progresses. I have not heard of other doctors or parents/patients mention anything about disease related red cheeks, in relation to progression of lung disease. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for that. I just assumed thats what it was with me. Might have to get it looked into. Interesting to see if our docs here can come up with a reason. Cheers Lee/australia Holt wrote: Hi Lee,In my case, its not relate to menopause, because I amtoo young and not due to nervousness. Guest guest
To all who are having night sweats and facial flushing/redness: I had this problem in my 30’s way before I ever had bronchiectasis. I went to my GP and he ordered a glucose tolerance test for me. It turned out that I was hypoglycemic and when my blood sugar would drop out that’s when I would get hot and flushed. Another cause could be that the steroids that almost everyone w/bronch. seem to be using can really mess up the hormone-producing glands (thyroid, pancreas, reproductive glands, etc). In my mid-30’s I had back surgery and prior to the surgery I was on oral steroids for quite a while. When I started having hot flashes I went to see my Dr. and they tested my estrogen level which was in fact too low. I tried several different types and strengths of hormone replacement therapy which had my system so screwed up that I finally decided to throw them all in the trash and buy a natural supplement containing plant estrogen. After a month or 2 of taking this, I finally got straightened out and stopped having the hot flashes. When I went back to see my Dr. he said that the steroids I was taking for my back had probably inhibited my estrogen production causing the hot flashes. Since I was diagnosed w/bronch. on Feb. 1 this year and have started using the Advair inhaler, I have noticed that my body temperature is much hotter than before. I used to be very cold natured and now I’m almost always hot. The steroid in the inhaler is the only thing that I can attribute the change to. I’m not saying that this is the cause of everyone’s hot flashes and night sweats, but it might be worth considering since we all know how detrimental steroids are to our bodies. Guest guest
I have the facial flushing but no sweats but attributed it to age. Did it before anyone diagnosed me with bronch. I haven't had to take oral steroids since last year - just the Advair.
