Guest guest
Faith: Thanks for your post. I am so glad you shared your experience with me. My voice has changed over the past week, and I am having a tough time talking. I just assumed it was due to my tonsils....but somehow thought it might be something else, just didn't know what. I sound like I have laryngitis. I will have this checked out on Monday to make sure all is well. My ENT specialist is doing the surgery on Thursday, so I will see if he can have a look prior to then. I am so grateful for having joined this group. I've learned so much and feel so much more optimistic about things this past week. Take care... -- In , fmt2002@c... wrote: > , > I just wanted to tell you that I too have had horrible problems with my larynx, voice box and esophagus. It is definetly related to the RA flares. I was referred to an ENT specialist immediately when he looked at my throat. I do not have tonsils but in the place where my tonsils would be, I have white patches. I have very inflamed and enlarged voice box and a growth of some sort farther down. ( 30 cm from tip of nose) ( I suspect a RA nodule, just my own opnion), the ENT has never seen anything that looked like this before. Even though he is one of the top dogs at this teaching university hospital med center. I have a follow up appointment with him this week. From what I have read the larynx and surrounding areas are often affected by RA. > I have some relief after being on the methotrexate for the last 7 weeks but I do still have days where I get alot of pain in the voice box area, and at times get a spasm type pain similar to swallowing something like a whole hard candy or tortilla chip, lower down my esophagus. > I sure hope your tonsilectomy helps alleviate your problems. > > Faith > >
