Guest guest
> Physicians speak out against seeing drug reps This interested me. The first time I saw my rheumatologist, I mentioned my frequent use of eye drops. She gave me a bright blue zipper pouch full of goodies: lip balm, a notebook, pen, collapsable water cup...and a sample of the drug salagen. She was in a hurry, so we did not discuss her recommendation any more than " Try this...here's the dosage...it might make you sweat more.. " When I got home, I read the literature carefully. I didn't want to sweat more. I saw nothing about improvement of dry eyes, but plenty about increasing salivation. I have plenty of saliva. My dry eye problem was not bothering me, actually. I don't mind using eyedrops. I didn't take the drug. The next time I saw my doctor, she had forgotten that she gave me the sample kit, and I didn't remind her. While discussing dry eyes, she said, " There's a way of treating that systemically, but we wouldn't want to do that unless we absolutely had to. " Why so conservative now, when she had recently tossed me the drug as casually as if it were a bag of M & Ms? I got the salagen kit because she had recently had an encounter with a drug rep. I just know it!!! Sierra
