Guest guest
Thanks Rhonda... I'll keep my eye out for that. My Nephrologist (kidney doctor) thinks I'm doing ok right now and shouldn't worry and has written my family doctor to keep my blood pressure monitored along with regular urine tests. So far, so good. It's just a slightly elevated protein level, but definitely higher than normal which was what alerted my family doctor in the first place. I've had the kidney ultrasound and all looks ok. But I have been warned because of my weight that I'm heading for serious trouble. The Nephrologist sat me down and said bluntly... and this shocked me silly.... " Because of your weight and blood sugar levels, you WILL have Diabetes and you WILL have kidney disease. " This was also thanks to years of anti-inflammatory drugs for arthritis. That really scared me... I've always heard... you could get...never YOU WILL GET. That's what scared me silly and made me take action. My life will depend on it. So far, I've been lucky... my blood pressure is normal and even dips a little low. For my weight, that shocks the doctors as they usually expect heavy people to have high blood pressure. I'm not going gung-ho with the gym... as much as I physically can. I literally drag myself to the gym where I see a Chiropractor, Osteopath, Physiotherapist, Personal Trainer (in the pool for now), and Massage Therapist. They have me there Monday to Friday with different things they work on. My chiropractor spilled the beans to me yesterday.... They are working extra hard with me as they've never had someone in their health club with so many issues. Fibromyalgia Osteoarthritis Need to lose 150 pounds High risk for Diabetes High risk for Kidney disease Degenerative Disc Disease in the lower back Muscle spasms (almost everywhere) The chiropractor said they want me to get super healthy so they can use me as their so-called " Poster-child " . Hey.. I don't mind at all... if they want to make me healthy, feeling good, and looking good for some marketing gimmick... NO PROBLEM... This means they'll pay extra attention to me and make sure I do what I need to do. I think I have lucked out with this and that my prayers are being answered. Thank you again for your advice... It's a good thing to know and now I have more things that can alert me to a problem. Thank you so much. Looks like I've done another long-winded e-mail... hehehehe... sowwie :-) mega hugs, Norah Norah Bleazard - Burlington, Ontario Canada www.bleazard.net ~ www.janorlites.com E-MAIL= norah.fibroyahoo@... Guest guest
Hi Norah, It is nice to get a long winded post. I don't mind at all. I am glad that you are getting the health care that you are needing. I just found that that information is useful so you can monitor your own proteins. Not many doctors mention that information either. You sound like you have many things going on with you, just as I do. My biggest issue is that I rarely find good recipes that I can enjoy. I have bought a neutrition program, and put in all of my favorite recipes in it. It is shocking to see the breakdowns. No wonder I am over weight. The best advice that I have gotten to lose weight is to find recipes that you can enjoy that is low calorie, and add one a week to your diet. In time, your eating habits will have changed and you will become succesful in weight loss. Unfortunately it is easier for a thin person to give such advice, then it is for a person that loves food to take the advice... LOL I have much to learn about Fibromyalgia. What works, what causes it. I am trying to find out if it is an auto immune diesease first off. If so, it would make since of why I have it. Is it a life long illness, or can we over come it. Then my depression sets in and gets me side tracked. I read some things last night on fibro-fog. Can't remember where it was. The funny thing is I can't remember what I tried to learn today. Fibro-fog explains a lot of my latest personality flaws. Rhonda
Guest guest
Hi again Rhonda :-) Are you having weight issues too? I'm so foggy today that I'm hoping I didn't read your e-mail wrong. It wouldn't be my first time...hehehehe. I am having a major fog issue these last few days. So please be patient with me. If you are trying to lose weight or eat healthier, we'd love to pick your brain on our sub group of this support group. I haven't done much with it lately as I'm still battling computer repairs on one of the servers which happens to be the one that houses the info from the Fibromites Fighting Weight support group. Ugggh... I need to get that machine back up and running. I started the sub group with all these good intentions and have been so busy with everything else going on. Hopefully hubby will find the time this weekend to rebuild it so I can get cracking on the other support group. I just hope everyone isn't upset that it's taking so long to get the other group up and running the way we need it to. I'm so sorry for that everyone. I haven't forgotten or ignored it... I'm needing to get busy with the rebuild. I throw so much work on him during the weekends, I'm surprised he hasn't complained about it. Ok.. I think I may be rambling... but I'm not sure. This fog is so bad, yesterday I had a scare. I was off in la-la land while driving home from the gym and ran a stop sign on our street. Thank God no one was coming from the other directions except for one senior who took the time to scream at me from his window. I don't know where my brain was, but it sure wasn't on the driving. At least it scared me enough to open my eyes that I need to focus more. I'm in a lot of pain and fog today and I really didn't want to keep my appointment with the trainer at the gym for the pool therapy. I was so relieved when she called me to tell me she was ill and canceling today. What a blessing... I have never canceled an appointment yet and always forced myself to go, even when I didn't want to. I think I was meant to stay home today as the fog is worse today than yesterday. I think I may have been spared possibly a worse driving incident today. ok.. enough incoherent babbling from me... I'm gonna run a hot bath and try to ease my muscles and bones. Hopefully, I'll come out of it more coherent. Hugs to everyone. gentle loving hugs, Norah Norah Bleazard - Burlington, Ontario Canada www.bleazard.net ~ www.janorlites.com E-MAIL= norah.fibroyahoo@... CHAT= MSN = black_dak_98@...
