Re: Saltpipe Opinion

I ordered one for my 15 year old daughter, and I asked her pediatrician about them. She said that she would not endorse an alternative or homeopathic form of medicine, but she understood my disenchantment with the whole "medical & antibiotic, prednisone" thing. She said that she did not think it would hurt, since salt/saline is naturally healing and soothing. She said theory wise it would supposedly act in the same way the the salt nasal irrigations that my daughter has been using since age 6, which has made her sinus a little better, but has not cured her. We haven't received the salt pipe yet, so I can't tell you, what the effect has been yet.

My daughter is on the highest doseage of Advair 500/50 and has been on this doesage or some lower form of Advair ever since it came out when she was about 5 or 6 she is now 15. She does have alot of infections, but I believe the main use for it, is to treat people with Allergies.

Does anyone have any information on an inhaler called ADVAIR? One of my

doctors recommended it the other said it contained steroids and can promote

infection so I should not use it. It did help me which is why I am asking

for your thoughts.

Thank you.

Advair is used to treat asthma and sometimes other

obstructive lung diseases. It has been helpful in

treating my asthma. I have few allergies with the

exception of being allergic to several foods,

shellfish and nuts. I do not have a respirologist, as

none are willing to treat me. However, the one

respirologist that did see me (and did nothing else)

was opposed to most everything under the sun. He did

not even think TOBI was helpful, and would not help to

get it for his patients, so we had generic tobra which

he didn't even think helpful. Provided the salt pipe

is safe than give it a try.

Hi there. Am curious to learn if you have received the saltpipe yet

and if your daughter is benefitting from its use. I recently posted

that my pulmonary doc was adamantly against my inhaling anything

other than prescribed. Many medical docs are not enthusiastic about

natural healing and so poo poo ideas without even looking into them.

My daughter will be applying to medical school next year and you can

bet I've had many conversations with her about this subject and told

her not to be so closed minded, ha ha! A case in point: I went to

Ocean Beach in San Francisco this weekend [gorgeous weather] and

contrary to the rest of the week which air was filled with smoke

from forest fires and pollution, I breathed in the " salty " sea air

and never coughed for a minute!! So, perhaps there is something to

that old adage about breathing in good old sea air to make your

lungs feel better. I may just order a salt pipe anyway! Janet

While my pulmonary doctor had actually heard of The Vest he felt that

I would not benefit from its use. He gave me the impression that it

was more for CF patients than those with bronc.

Having a bad cough day today, lots of wheezing too. How's everyone

else doing?

it but I want to check that out. So you really didn't find it helped

that much. That's good to know.
