Guest guest
My psa is lowering 25.7 to 25.3 I am going for my 3rd. I do not want a false reading so i will ask for the DRE after bloodwork. From what I am told the cancer has escaped the capsule and surgery is not an option and yes aggressive treatment is what the doctors want to do. Yes I looking at all my options and have yet to make a decision. I will probably wait it out as long as I can and enjoy life. If there is someone close to my age that can Identify with the choices I need to make at this age please share your thoughts and experience with me. Re: 43 year old guy psa 25.3 gleason 8 The actions you're taking sound good, but why the aversion to DRE? You could certainly ask that the DRE follow the blood draw if the concern is a false elevation, of which you seem to be aware that recent sexual activity can also be a contributor. I can think of no reason to ask not to have a DRE though. Am I missing something? Also, I can't tell from your subject heading whether your numbers are heading up or down; and you don't say if you've received any treatment yet, so I'm guessing not. The numbers in and of the themselves, particularly combined with your youth, suggest that aggressive treatment is indicated before the cancer has an opportunity to spread. You're most likely already weighing all options.Regarding your employer's change in insurance carriers, that seems unlikely to be in the best interest of workers - though it's hard to say for sure. Guest guest
My husbands initial PSA came back 23.6. We waited a month, had another PSA drawn - 19. He then went for a biopsy in Aug. '06, and in all 12 sections they found cancer. Gleason score 4 + 3 = 7. Dave is 52 years old, and does not smoke or drink, and is not overweight. We were told that his best option would be to have the laproscopic radical prostatectomy, which he did in Sep. '06. Yesterday he went for his first follow-up PSA, and it was zero. They'll continue testing his PSA every 3 months, but we're believing that it's all gone! Praise God!
Guest guest
Hi , If you go along to http://www.yananow.net/Chart-Age.htm you will see a list of men sorted by age, which gives brief details of their diagnosis, their choice of treatment and a link to their personal story. In most cases they will be happy to correspond with you. There are six men under 45 years of age and more between 45 and 50 – of course further down the list you come to us old blighters – the oldest contributor now being 88 and having survived for ten years.
