Hello Friends,

Tomorrow is the day that Interventional radiologist,

Dr. is stripping my veins. This procedure is

done in the angio room. Dr. will be inserting

a catheter going up through my groin (right leg?) and

lasso a blood clot and fibrin sheath that has

developed on my port-a-cath (port). The port is

located in my chest. Dr. will be going up

through the subclavien vein that is located near the

heart. I have had angio procedures before and find

them painful, as my veins are terrible. Neither

radiologists nor vascular surgeon understand why my

veins are bad. Normally people with chronic illness

can develop bad veins, as we receive various IV

antibiotics or other meds, but mine are a bit worse

than what is considered normal, I guess. Procedure is

done in day surgery. I must lie quietly for 4-6 hours.

Normally people lay flat, but I will have to be

sitting up for my lungs, but keep quiet. It’s going to

be hard to keep still! I am taking my portable DVD

player along with me and perhaps will watch some

movies if I am not too groggy. Hoping for some " good "

sedation for this procedure! depending on how my

lungs are my Dad thinks that I maybe admitted to

hospital for one night anyway even though its supposed

to be day surgery. This would simply be for

observation.

Please wish me luck, say prayers or send some positive

thoughts or energy to help me through it, as I am

rather nervous about having angio procedures based on

previous experiences.

On Friday, I am to start another round of IVs once my

port is working. Should be on them for about 3 weeks.

Thank you!

Hugs:0)

Liz
