Guest guest
thanks laurel and others for responding to me the other day when I felt so confused and afraid because of what I had been reading about others and their health issues while on the wiley protocol. What I didn't know at the time I wrote the email is that my doctor had only presribed 1/4 of the actual wiley dosage when he had a compounding pharmacist make it up for me. I don't think he ever told me that. I guess he must not have realized that I am the type of person who researches everything. I am still not sure if the dosages are right or not but I guess it will be a learning experience. What has been happening to me while rhythmic dosing is that my periods are coming too early like on day 17 instead of 28. Does anyone have a suggestion? My doctor is not always quick in responding. Also does anyone know of any evidence besides wiley's book that a bleed is important in hormone replacement. I know WIley thinks so but do we have any evidence since the book was written that this is a good or necessary thing. I am only fifty so it didn't take long for my periods to start back. Any feedback would be appreciated. THanks, Chris
Guest guest
Dear I have found that there is a very common misconception that the WP is one dosage and one dosage only. That is not at all true. Your doctor should have blood tests to see what your levels are and then adjust after 3 months of using the protocol. This is what is said on the official website of WP (thewileyprotocol.com)concerning your issue of an early bleed: " Increase the P-4 by two lines BID *for one day* by placing it on the labia, and if the bleeding doesn't stop then let the period happen. That means *stop using the progesterone* and start counting your new day 1 from the bleed day. Early bleeding of this nature indicates that there wasn't enough estrogen present during days one-12 to make a good strong attachment for the lining. Then due to not having enough estrogen during your peak days there was not enough progesterone receptors in place for the progesterone to hold onto the lining. The one day test of increased progesterone to stop the spotting gives the progesterone a chance to " speak louder " for a day, but if we don't have enough receptors for the progesterone then the lining won't hold. The early period means we need more estrogen. Increases are made in increments of two lines in the morning and night per month. Symptoms and blood work must be evaluated together. Talk to your doctor and explore the options. " You must be patient when doing any hormone replacement therapy. It takes time for the body to adjust and absorb the hormones. The reason a period is necessary for optimum health is the flushing of the lining of the uterus is a normal condition of a healthy uterus for many reasons. It means you are not pregnant which is the only reason short of menopause that a woman would not have a period and still be cycling normally. It is also extremely important to have your levels checked every few months until you are feeling great and cycling normally. At that point blood tests every 6 months are recommended. I hope that you will continue your journey with WP and give it a chance to correct the imbalance in your body. My health is what it was at age 40 and I feel fabulous (I am 55). It took me a while to get there but it has been well worth it. Much luck to you!
