Guest guest
Joy, I have a productive cough. My cough became worse about three or four years ago. I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis a couple of years ago. It is somewhat common to pulmonary fibrosis. My understanding is that pulmonary fibrosis is usually accompanied by dry coughing. It is an inflamatory disease, so maybe inflamation is in the bronchia and creates the urge to cough. Another explanation is that reflux disease usually accompany lung disease and that will produce a cough. If you don't have a productive cough, it would be o.k. to use a suppressant. My doc prescribes Tessalon Pearles...or Benzoatate (generic). Hugs, Joyce PF 1997>> Hi everyone. This has been a heavy morning with all the sad news...and > a joyful morning with all the great news. Guest guest
E. I only use it to get some sleep at night and not always then. During my awake time, I am using nebulizers and taking Mucinex to keep that gunk out of my lungs. Does not take long for it to become infectious....then more scarring. It is a battle! Guest guest
Joyce, Thanks for answering. Do you use Mucinex DM? I have both kinds. I want to go away with some friends for a week-end and worry about the coughing. They do not know I have this monster. E IPF 12/05Joyce wrote: E. Guest guest
; This seems like the perfect opportunity to tell your friends. Don't be ashamed of this disease, where it like a badge of honor. If they are true friends they will be of great help to you. Gordon ipf/uip 12/03 Re: Re: chest and cough Joyce, Thanks for answering. Guest guest
E. Just plain Mucinex. 2 a.m and 2 p.m. It does not suppress the cough, just thins the mucus so it comes on out and you don't hack and hack. Joyce > > >> > > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Grey, No, my pulmonologist does not want me to take it. It is not prescription nor branded and there are no regulations for it. My doc has me on prescription Acetylcysteine 10% in my nebulizer. He says that putting it directly into the lungs is better than putting it throughout the whole body. ???? So, he has me take Mucinex to thin the mucus and nebulize the Acetylcysteine. It is really strange how the docs see things differently. I will do what he says since he has kept me out of the hole this long. ha!ha! Take care Grey! Your report sounds good. Take every good report and thank God for it. Hugs, Joyce PF 1997 > > >> > > I have a productive cough. Is Tessalon-Perles a good medicine to use.
