Guest guest
Sandi, Have you tried Ox-Absorb for constipation? A lot of people doing the low oxalate diet and calcium citrate use it. I order it from Vitaline. I take just one tablet a day and it helps me. It has a lot of fiber, also calcium. You could take several tablets a day of it. Guest guest
For a few weeks before I developed v-v I had been on a low fat diet trying to get my weight under control. I was eating quite a bit of low-fat monterey jack cheese for protein as well as non-fat yogurt. Also a lot of raw veggies. I think that really screwed me up because I started cramping and could not even bend over without getting a cramp in my abdomen. I could not use the stool softeners or canned fiber supplements because I would get burning. Calcium sets me off again so I do not take it. I quit the cheese and cut way back on the yogurt and started using whole milk and eating dry cereal with milk, in the evening. No margarine, just butter or olive oil. Now I occasionally eat cheese but it makes me irregular which I don't need. Guest guest
I'll be curious to see if yours clears up after taking the Probiotics Harry makes. Dr. Crook and others list constipation as a candida symptom. Clearly a change in the intestinal bacteria could make a difference Beth

I am on the low oxalate therapy and Dr. 's told me to take magnesium oxide. You can get it at the pharmacy or health food store. He recommended to me that I take the 250mil pill. I can't tell you exactly how much to take but you may want to try taking one a day and see if it helps. If not you may want to try taking two. It really has helped me and after much trial and error I have found the best dose for myself. I hope this helps. Darlene

Guest guest
Have you tried prunes? Sometimes I eat five or six or more in the evening before I go to bed and they usually are effective. I buy the seedless prunes in a bag - The brand is Sunsweet. Or eat a bowl of bran flakes with whole milk, in the evening. Or both. They both help me. Ora > Hello everyone, > > I have a problem. My doctor put me on the antidepressant desperimine and it is helping with the throbbing pain that I have, but I cannot go to the bathroom. I am only taking 25mg and I have tried a stool softner. I am taking msm. Nothing has helped me. The constipation is making everything hurt worse. Especially my rectum and hemmoroid. If anyone knows of any herbs or anything that could help me please let me know. I am getting ready to go on a 2 week vacation to Disney World and would like to feel the best that I can. I appreciate any help. > > Thanks, > Suz

Guest guest
Sorry to bring up this subject but I have chronic constipation along with chronic pain. The pain pills are the culprit as they are with many of you too I suspect. I have only some success with stool softners and my favorite ruffage, which is pumpkin seeds. I am looking for something different to try. Your suggestions and experiences are appreciated. Thanks, Dave.
