Guest guest
Could someone explain how you do active cycle breathing ?? Nobody has ever told me about it. I like had my middle right lobe removed six weeks ago. I have been on medicine the last four weeks. I can not get rid of my sinus infection. I had sinus surgery last summer but it did not do any good. Joy from Wisconsin Bunny & Bob wrote: Hi (Ginger & Lee), Glad to hear you are doing well after your surgery. You have certainly made a quick recovery, going back to work so soon. Do you notice your breathing is better or any obvious improvements? Postural drainage is important if you have a lot of mucus in your lungs. Some people with bronch don't produce much mucus, and can manage with active cycle breathing and exercise. My bottom lobes are affected, and I cough up heaps, so I absolutely need to do postural drainage. I do this by lying over two pillows on the bed (from the hip) to get a good tip. I do about 15 minutes draining each side, and do the breathing cycle, huffing and coughing. I also do percussion and vibes with my hands around the back rib area. It is much easier for a physio therapist to do the percussion and vibes, but once you are shown you can do it yourself. I use a towel doubled over when doing percussion, to protect my ribs. It would be wise to clear this with your specialist, especially after your surgery. Why not ask for a referral to a respiratory therapist, who will be able to work out the best method for you. However, in the meantime, keep up the active cycle breathing to keep your lungs as clear as possible. Wishing you the best. Love Bunny ---------------------------------------------------- i guess it's a common question. i also wanted to ask about the postural drainage. i was only taught active cycle breathing. it works ok, but i can always tell there is stuff i didn't get. there is not lying or leaning or anything involved in it. but when i asked about PD, i was told there was no need. by the way, i had my right middle lobe removed 5 weeks ago and i'm doing great. i start work again on monday. i'm so excited! claudia Relax. Guest guest
I’m also interested in information on active cycle breathing. I haven’t heard of it before either. Joy, how is your recovery going? I had to return to work six weeks after my resection and it was a challenge. Things did keep improving though.
