I am a 41-year-old who was diagnosed in 1998 although the doctors are

certain I've had it much longer than that - probably since childhood. I

live in Omaha, NE with my husband, three boys and two new girl puppies (I

tease my husband that this is the only way I can get girls in the house

:-). All of nature irritates my allergies - UGGHHHH!! But that still

doesn't keep me indoors. Dust, humidity, smoke and mold are the absolute

worst for me and after those is anything with a strong aroma/odor as my

nose works incredibly well. I am an avid runner which I believe keeps me

from getting sick all the time which thankfully keeps me out of the

hospital. That is my life in a nutshell.

My two cents on smoking and then I'm done. Like June, I grew up around

smokers. Both of my parents smoked as did their friends. When my mother

saw how sick I was because of the smoke she quit, but the damage was

already done!! Now I try not to go anywhere that I will be exposed to

smoke. We try to pick kid friendly restaurants and sit in no smoking. I

understand that nicotine is addictive and I'm not saying they have to quit.

- but smoke at home where you aren't subjecting other people to your nasty

habit. I have family members who smoke, but they know when they come to my

house they either go outside or they don't smoke. I just can't believe

with all the literature available today alerting people what can happen

when you smoke that someone would actually make a concise decision to

smoke! Just my two cents!!
