Guest guest
Barb, I was referred to an infectious disease specialist when I cultured pseudomonas (a bacteria) and aspergillus (a fungus). My pulmonologist wanted a second opinion regarding treatment. I have osteopenia which is the stage before osteoporosis. Guest guest
Hi Barb, I know a number of bronch people who consult both pulmologist and infectious disease doctor for advice on infection and antibiotics. However, I only see my pulmologist and he handles everything. We are prone to other illnesses, like arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc, with our suppressed immune systems. I have arthralgia (joint pain) but it has not progressed any further. I recently had a severe herpes zoster virus, with the flu and lung infection. I believe shingles is similar to herpes, and breaks out when you are stressed, with illness or whatever. I was wondering if the doctors have ever linked the Crohns disease with your bronch? I hope the surgeries were successful, and you are doing much better now. Take care. Bunny ---------------------------------------------- I know in past emails I have read that some peoplewith Bronc also see an "infectious disease doctor." Iwas wondering if it is because our immune systems arenot as they should be?I also wanted to know if anyone else with bronc haveother illnesses. I was also diagnosed with Crohn'sdisease about 24 years ago. I have had two bowelreconstruction surgeries. I get shingles on my back, always in the same spots. I usually get shingles whenI have been under stress. And I have mild scoliosis. I was wondering if anyone know if people with bronctend to have other illnesses.Barb in Houston
Guest guest
Dear Barb, My infections can be tricky to treat. Having an ID specialist on my team has been extremely helpful. My immune system is normal, but some persons with bronchiectasis do have immune problems. The doctor treating my infections, Dr. Haase has helped others with CF. He has done research in the area of cystic fibrosis lung infections. This research is also helpful to those with similar lung conditions. Dr. Haase is an awesome person. He has done more to help me than most respirologists. I am not sure what my GP and I would do without his expertise. Hugs:0) ) " Miracles happen with love..... " .....
