I think with everyone it is different but if I were you I would go to your

local Soc.Sec office and talk to someone face to face.The good thing is that

the longer you wait the bigger the check will be. Good luck, Don.

Damn...I can't remember. It wasn't too long..maybe

about a month. The first thing I did was go into a

social security office and set up automatic deposit.

I've never gotten a physical check by doing that..not

even the first one. It's much faster that way.

True, but remember if you are on any assistance while waiting, they will take

the amount out of your check and send you whats left over. When I got my SSI,

I had been on welfare for a year. The award was for over 10,000.00 but

because of being on welfare, I only got 6,000. Welfare got back what they had

given

me while I was waiting. From the day you applied for SSI/ SSDI, is when it

strarts.
