Guest guest
Hi Tawny: Wow, can I relate. I have RA and Fibro and am very forgetfull, and also mix up my words a lot, use the wrong word for something, say a work completely out of context for the sentence, or can't find the right word to describe something as simple as the dishwasher (I have to kind of work around it, you know, that thing that we use to clean plates......, etc.) I write myself a lot of notes and but sometimes forget where I put them... My kids and husband just shake their heads and say mom's loosing it. At one time, when I would pick up my daughter at school, we would always go down the same block on the way home and there is a very bright yellow house at the end of the block. I was remarking on it one day -wow, that house is so yellow, I wonder if they just painted it? when my daughter finally said to me that I had been saying the exact same thing each day for the past week ...... I did not remember having done that...... Anyway, just the fibro fog at work I guess - 50 is too young for senility isn't it? I certainly hope so lol. Guest guest
Kathe, I guess it is the fibo fog. Wow, it is really terrible, and nothing can be done about this? I do so many things, that I can't remember:) I have to put my bills all in one location, and really keep track to make sure that I paid them. We are too young for this:(Tawny > > > > > Hey everyone, > > I haven't been on here much, but still trying to > > keep up with the > > posts. Guest guest
Tawny, Welcome to the club of what I call " senior moments. " I'm, (clears throat)a bit older than you and have noticed things like momentary memory lapses, more " Mom/Hun, you've already told me or said that before, " and more recently, typing one word while thinking another e.i. wait for where. I finally asked my rheumy about it & said " don't tell me it's senility--I'm TOO young! " He looked at my med list & said to stop the mtx for now. I waited 2 months & didn't see much diff. After doing some research I decided , at least for me, that I really haven't been doing much to stimulate my brain lately. I retired in '99 from working as a H.S. Counselor for 30+ years and the next 4 were spent keeping up with my daughter who had just started H.S. The last year & a half have been spent in front of the computer during the day & watching TV with DH most evenings with the exception of my twice weekly PT sessions. DD is away at college. So, I'm back on MTX and have started doing more reading, working puzzles both on & off the computer, and getting out more often and trying to be more physically active. When we're in pain, depression sets in and our memory is affected. I know when my RA first developed 25 yrs ago when our meds were limited, I was really down. At the library I found a book about a woman who became much better by swimming 1½ hrs a day. I started at the YMCA for 30 min. 4 times a week. I continued this for many years. I found I was less depressed, stronger & thus felt better. I don't think I really stopped until I started on effexor XR (which somehow took most of my fibro pain away) and enbrel. I've been blessed since these plus mtx & voltaren keep my pain at a very low level. In fact, if my hands & feet weren't so crippled, I might consider myself almost in remission. I'm sorry if I sorta got carried away here but I guess I'm saying, if you've been in a lot of pain, feel stressed out, etc., this could be a big part of the memory problems. Only when these get better will you be able to function better. In the meantime, talk with your rheumy, it may very well be one of your meds, and try to vary your activities a bit. Even a healthy person sometimes says " I can't think straight; where are my car keys; etc., etc. " so try not to be too worried. prayers & blessings for you & yours. Guest guest
Lori, You are probably right pain and stress doesn't help at all. I have sure had enough of it. Thanks for sharing, it sure helps a lot, Hugs, Tawny > > > > > > > > > > > Hey everyone, > > > > I haven't been on here much, but still trying to > > > > keep up with the > > > > posts.
