Guest guest
I realised over the weekend that I mostly do The Work because I want to understand myself. Once I realised this, I asked myself: " Why do I want that? " Here are some of the answers: 1) I think that the more I understand myself the happier I will be. 2) I think that the more I understand myself the closer to enlightenment I will be. And enlightenment is something I want. (Actually, I don't - I discovered later.) 3) I will then be wise and be able to see what others are doing. This will give me a certain power. 4) I will then be wise and be able to see what others are doing. This will give me the ability to help them, which I think is a good thing. 5) I will be wise and be able to write a book about the psyche. 6) Some wise soul said that the most important question we can ask ourselves is " Who am I " . I have taken this belief on. 7) Another wise soul told us to " Know thyself " . I have taken this belief on as well. I want to understand myself. I want to be enlightened. I want self- realisation. I want inner peace. Are any of these true for me? Why do I want these? Go in for the love of Truth, says - plain and simple. All of the above twist it a little - dilute The Work - because then I am doing The Work with a motive. Anybody agree, disagree from their perspective? I would be very interested to hear.
