Guest guest
LOL Tricia, this is all I can think of too!! I like your line of thinking!! Positive, Positive! How are you doing? I'm not sure I've seen you peek your head in before. lol I bet you are one of the old timers who doesn't post much, but lurks? I'm a newbie as you probably know! lol I just love this group. It's the best thing I could ever be a part of. Everyone here has helped me so very much. Finally a place where everyone understands pain and the meds it takes to care for chronic pain. I've been a part of Chronic Illness groups only to never get the support I really needed. Here I do and I'm able to give back to everyone as I understand them as well. I love it!! What causes your pain, if I may ask? Mine is due to Fibro, Spinal Stenosis in neck and back, and OsteoArthritis. And I've had a fusion in my neck with a graft from the hip. I also suffer from Neuropathy, but its well controlled with Neurontin so it doesn't give me much break through trouble. I hope to see you around more. Love, hugs and prayers! Tommie Re: Leaving Group i think we are under investigation for being too caring of our fellow pain sufferers. it's either that or the aliens that we let in the group. Guest guest
Hi, Tommie. I wouldn't say I was an old timer, but not a newbie to the group either. I have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, neuropathy, foot drop, IBS, Restless Leg Syndrome, and a host of other problems. And presently, I have bronchitis. So I can't wait for 2006 to end! 2007 HAS to be better, right? I was on Neurontin, at the highest level, but it didn't help me anymore. I now take Gabitril. I am also on Fentanyl patches for pain, Baclofen (a muscle relaxer), an anti-nausea medication, Nexium, and others that I can't even think of right now! It's a good thing that someone invented those pill organizers because my short term memory is so bad. At 12:24 PM 12/30/2006, you wrote: >LOL Tricia, this is all I can think of too!! Guest guest
Not that I have noticed. I like the fact that I don't have to take a pill because I have so many problems with my stomach. I find that it helps to alleviate the pain, but I get a lot of break through pain that will be addressed at my next appointment. They keep changing my drugs because I have adverse reactions. They put me on Methadone. I had absolutely no pain - but they made me so sick that I couldn't take it. And even after I stopped taking it, I was still 'out of it' from the pills. Guest guest
Hi Tricia, I agree with you on the pill organizers. I have 2 of them, weekly ones, my nurse comes by every 2 wks and fills them up and draws up 2 wks worth of my long acting Insulin too. This way I only have to handle my short acting Insulin as I almost put myself in a coma once with the insulin. And have had to call poison control a couple of other times due to over dosing myself with my other meds. I take, I think, 28 pills per day, not including pain meds or allergy stuff when needed. So, no, I don't want to mix my meds up or take too much of anything. lol The Neurontin, I can only take a small dose of it as it caused too much sleepiness. I only take 600mg 3x's a day and it helps for what I need it for. Oh RSD I hear is a really bad illness to live with Bless you. Do you take Requip for the RLS? I use to take that for mine, but I'm not too terribly bothered by the RLS anymore, after many years of having horrible times with it. The Requip helped me when I use to take it. Yes, 2007 MUST be better! I don't want to see worse. lol Hugs Tommie Re: Tricia , intro Hi, Tommie. I wouldn't say I was an old timer, but not a newbie to the group either. Guest guest
Tricia, One of my sisters takes Methadone and she tells me that it has as " reservoir " and builds up in your system. This would be why you were still loopy after stopping it. It takes about 10 days for it to get out of your system on that level. Re: Tricia , intro Not that I have noticed. Guest guest
Hopefully that will help. They do Mama. and they do not mess her mind up either. When she first started going to a pain management dr. he put her on oxycontin. and she didn't have any idea what was going on. to the fact that I told her if she could not come to my son's high school graduation without taking one. Not to come. I didn't want everyone talking about her being stoned. as we live in a small town. and gossip flies. That may sound cruel but it was not intended to be. it was truly out of love for my Mama. Jena ~:~Jena~:~ My Home Page My E-mail Re: Tricia , intro > >Not that I have noticed. She say's it really helps her pain too but it isn't a med to abuse or take more than the doc prescribes. You sure can't self medicate with Methadone. Guest guest
It was horrible. I thought I was going to die. I couldn't sit up because I couldn't support myself. Walking was a nightmare. Guest guest
Isn't it something how a drug will work wonderfully for one thing but cause such side effects? My RLS was so bad that I couldn't stand it and the RSD is in my left leg, so the RLS only made my pain worse. I take the Mirapex then get on the couch, which is my bed. Long story - but it's the most comfortable place for me to sleep. If only I had a bathroom downstairs, I would be set!
