Guest guest
Hi , It's snowing here in southern Indiana too, though we're only expecting a couple of inches. Much better than the 30 inches we had just before Christmas! We have a neighbor that must be related to yours. He is retired early due to a stroke, and he works on old cars and trucks, all hours of the day and night! I swear the man never sleeps, and their driveway is opposite our bedroom. He has an old truck, 3 cars, and a motorcycle. When he's working on them during the mild months, when we like to have windows open, we get the noise AND the exhaust and gas fumes in the house. Last year they dumped some kind of weed killer all along the fenceline and killed not only their weeds but the flowers I had planted on my side.\ I'm surprised (or maybe not, come to think of it) that the snowplow driver doesn't report the guy for parking there. Our plows would just plow them in. Enjoy some hot chocolate, Judi in IN > >

Guest guest
sometimes people just don't learn any other way. I don't understand why the sheriff or the police don't ticket this truck. If it were around here they would. They ticket senior citizens for not shoveling their sidewalks, hmph! grrrrrrrrr. now that makes me mad. I would keep calling until they were SICK of hearing from me after every hour for, say, 2 months! The past couple of snow storms our neighbor who is in his early 30's and very healthy has had a truck parked inbetween our house and theirs on the road. First couple of snow storms we thought it was just company. It isn't. A friend lets him borrow the truck to block the snowplow from plowing in front of his driveway. We have a parking ban in this town when it snows but it seems that nothing is done about it because we live on a dead end street. Anyway, with the snowplow unable to plow in front of his driveway, he doesn't get the big pile of snow that all of us get when the road is cleaned. Which means we (DH is kicking 60) have to use our snowblower in the road so I can get the mail when he is at work and he can pull the cars out to do the driveway. He is so mad this time that he said he is going to make sure the snowblower blows all the snow, including the sand and salt into the truck. Let them worry about it. This road is so narrow that it is a tight squeeze to have two cars pass one another. Having a car in the road makes for an accident waiting to happen. There is an incline on the road and cars and slick roads don't make for a easy stop. How can a person be so inconsiderate just to save 5 minutes of clearing out the edge of his driveway. DH is out there now cleaning the sidewalk and driveway and then has to go to bed because he just got home from work and has to work again tonight (12 hour shifts). This guy works maybe 8 hours a day, but not every day. LOL I am watching DH clear the road and sure enough he is making sure the snow goes into the truck!!!! This is going to start petty wars.........sigh They are still mad at us because we put in an above ground pool last year and they can't because they yard isn't big enough (pool has to be 15 feet away from all property lines) and if it was it is on such an incline that it would cost a fortune to level a pool. They really aren't bad people, just stupid. Thanks for letting me vent..... Need to get going here and make DH blueberry pancakes. His favorite. in Ct. Guest guest
Hi, !! I can feel for you when it comes to stupid neighbors who's only concern is themselves. The neighbors who used to live next to me FINALLy moved. I live in a condo development and share common walls. My old neighbors would play their sound system so loud that I could hear it upstairs over the shower. Heck, I could even hear it over the garbage disposal!! It was so loud that the wall would vibrate. They would hold parties until 3am, inside and outside. Then, to top things off, they got a dog. They would let the dog out and not clean up after it. they would let it go in my back patio area because they had a brick patio and I have grass. They NEVER would clean it up. I would call and write the association, and the association would just say that they would send them a letter and if they didn't straighten up then they would start sending them fines. Well, things didn't get better. So, the petty wars began!! I would turn the power off to their house for a few hours a day, when they were home, when they where having their parties (it's good to know the power company guy). I would also have their cale turned off for a few days (it's good to know the cable guy). Then, one morning I took all I could take of the dog poop they refused to pick up. I went out, picked it all up (about 5 or 6 piles from a big black lab) and placed it all in one thin plastic grocery bag. I then chucked it up and over their fence where it landed nicely on their picnic table and splattered EVERYwhere!! By the way, it was about 80 degrees by the time they got home. So, the poop was well done!! Well, they never left piles of poop anywhere again!! They were also forced to move by the association. Now, I have a nice considerate neighbor. Don't they have " snow emergencies " on your street? If so, when it snows the cars have to be moved off the street. If you do, call the police to have them towed!! Though I do like the idea of piling all the snow into the truck!! Good luck with those neighbors of yours..Marina

Guest guest
and - I agree. I am home today- as much from flu as snow- was sharp enough to take work home with me... I don't have a DH- so I have a former coworker do my lawn and snow work...He lives about a half an hour away- he just finished my driveway. What I find amusing in an odd way- is how people attempt to get around doing more work.... There are people in my neighborhood - either side- who will shovel to my driveway on either side- but not across it...understand it is a one car carport driveway- not very wide. Oh well, I am not much help at all. Even paying to have shoveling done when it is bad like to day- shovels only what he has to as well. My front walk to my porch- is curvy and sort of long- and when he shovels It is so narrow sometime I hope my mailperson is a tightrope walker or at least very very slender. ( I am spoiled- I am in city- my mail goes to my porch). I can't complain- I suspect what I pay him doesn't cover a lot more than gas these days. He was laid off from my office a few years ago. I supervised him- sort of- and he likes doing yard work painting etc. so I try to give him extra work. I had better head back to the couch. This flu really packs a wallop tooo- and I had flu shot. Guest guest
Judi Our neighbor tried to put weed killer down one year and we told him to stop or he was going to pay for our bottled water. We have wells here and pestisides are a big no no. Not to mention it kills furbabies!! We won't even use lawn fertilizer because of the little guys. The snowplow driver blows his horn when he has to go around the car. Not a short burst either. Trust me, that scares the living daylights out of ya when you are in a deep sleep. sigh I guess there isn't anymore snow coming this week so things should calm down around here. It just frustrates me when healthy people are so lazy. I bet everyone in the group wish we could have just one healthy lazy day. Gosh that would be fun wouldn't it? But we can't. I know for myself, if I am having a good day, I take full advantage of it. I will pay for it " tomorrow " , but it feels good to be able to do something when I am feeling good. Except for yesterday when I was hurting real bad, I can honestly say, I have been having a good month or so. Healthy people just don't know how good they have it. Will stop rattling here. Hope you have a good day. Hugs in Ct.
Guest guest
Marina What a wonderful idea!!! DH got a kick out of it. Honestly though, they deserved it! I am so glad you finally got new neighbores. Now you had really bad neighbors. Makes my neighbors look like angels. We have two little furbabies and we own our home (actually the bank, but you know how that goes) and we always pick up the poop, yes even in our own yard. It just makes for a safer enviroment for them and us humans. Years ago there was this old guy who would walk his dog (big ol mutt) on our street and let him poop wherever. Usually our yard. DH caught him one time, gave him a plastic bag and told the old guy to pick it up and take it home. He never did walk his dog on our street again. This town doesn't do much in the way of ticketing cars in snow storms. Right now the police don't do a lot of anything. They got knocked down in the last voting for a new police station. They had the town vote 3 times in the past two years and 3 times got a majority " NO " . So they are sulking. Funny how they only respond to problems in the districts that voted " yes " . in Ct. Guest guest
Sorry to hear you have the flu. Get better fast!!! It is a shame people won't do for others unless they get something out of it. Growing up (50's-60's and this is dating me, lol) you didn't need to ask for help. Neighbors helped neighbors. Today, they just think of themselves. So does your mailman have to be drunk to walk to your house? LOL That is funny, just shoveling enough to make a path....a curvy one at that..... Take care of yourself. Guest guest
Tawny We don't think of them as a nightmare....I have heard many a horror stories from other people who definately have problem neighbors. This one is just a lazy PITA! Evidently the truck was parked on top of ice (remember the road is on an incline) so when he tried to move the truck he couldn't. hehehe Then the dummy backed up into the snow bank on the road DH had made. The guy was so pissed! It took him a while to get out. We got about an inch of snow last night and we are wondering if the plow will come. I doubt it, but it would be nice to see their car get plowed in. They have it parked right on the edge of the driveway. I am in such a vendictive mood! Think happy thoughts.
Hugs back. _____ From: Choate [mailto:k.j.choate@...] Sent: Tuesday, March 01, 2005 2:17 PM Subject: Re: [ ] snow and selfish people/venting and - I agree.
Hugs in Ct.
