- First denial is standard. Attorneys do help on appeal. Many legal aid

programs will evaluate for you and may be able to refer to attorneys who

specialize in the appeals. Most legal aid offices do not take themselves-

because statute provides for attorneys fees - and they are not allowed to take

cases under those circumstances- could actually lose funding under those

circumstances- and most, like my program are already underfunded based on client

demand.

I went to a Disability lawyer and asked her what she can do that I can't.

Her answer was that she knew what forms to fill out next. I already knew

that so I told her " no thanks " and did it myself with help from the patient

advocate at the hospital. I wasn't about to pay someone for nothing. I also

think lawyers shouldn't get rich on other's suffering, like 'Ambulance

chasers'. Besides, I'm a penny pincher that won't pay for anything I can do

for myself.

disability cases?

I did not use an attorney but it took me three tries. Keep appealing and if

you do not go to an attorney they will set you up with an LEA . I know what

they look for so if you want any specific information email me. My name is

Jacquie. I did finally get approved after about 1 and 1/2 years but it was

worth

it! I was only 35 at the time which was against me and I had been a teacher

and have three degrees which also hurt me. Each case is different however and

I just documented EVERYTHING wrong with me It helps very much if your doctors

agree that you can't work anymore!

Good Luck
