Guest guest
Diane, Is the only thing we can do is stay off them and keep them elevated? No med or exercise or anything else that will help? I have a horrible time just laying around. Mine have to be above my heart in order to get the fluid off. I've not seen my ankle bones since March when this all started in April. I would love to see my feet again. As in the veins, bones and such without discoloration. whaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I need a new body :( ~Tommie/Oklahoma Diane Re: TYPES OF DIABETIC NEUROPATHY Hi Tommie I get swelling and discoloration (red/purplish/blue) in my feet and ankles when I'm on them alot. It doesn't happen too often as I'm off of my feet with them elevated for most of the day. I haven't had any swelling in my calf. I do have tremendous swelling in my right knee which I just found out this morning is due to arthritis. The Dr. thinks that it could be OS. My knee feels like it's the size of a basketball. It's been that way since Thanksgiving. Hugs Diane - Minnesota .

The ONLY thing that helps is keeping feet above heart and that is hard to do. I just can't be bed ridden. I'm going to doc next week and see if there is anything else I can do. Thanks for the prayers, much needed here. Hugs ~Tommie I take lasix also but to keep the fluid off my lungs they were tapped several times in the first month after heart surgery .. but it doesn't help in swelling in the legs U R right they must be above the heart which isn't always easy to do unless U never go anywhere and that would suck Rose

Guest guest
Hi Tommie Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. When I'm on my feet alot, my feet swell up, but not my ankles so much. As for the pain, I have to watch what type of pain meds I take because of allergic reactions that I have had. Currently I'm on neurontin 200 mg/day, lamictal 200 mg/day (for depression), lyrica 50 mg/day and tylenol #3 100 mg/day. I can't take a higher does of neurontin because then I would do nothing but sleep 24/7. (we tried it for a week and that's all I did). Very leary of trying Cymbalta because of the side effects especially the manic where you can do something and not remember what you did afterwards. What you might try is putting ice packs on your feet/ankles that might help. Diane - Minnesota > > Diane, > > Is the only thing we can do is stay off them and keep them elevated? Also I don't take Neurotin because of weight gain. Tommie wrote: Thanks Diane, I will give the ice a try. Hadn't thought of that. Guest guest
Hi Shirley, I have support hose, but no one really to put them on me every day and they are too tight for me to do it by myself. I have no problems taking them off, it's getting them on. And when I did wear them, they didn't seem to help much. Maybe because I was already so swollen. I don't know. I have an appt. Friday morning, we'll see what this doc has to say. ~Tommie Diane Re: TYPES OF DIABETIC NEUROPATHY > > > Hi Tommie > > I get swelling and discoloration (red/purplish/blue) in my feet and > ankles when I'm on them alot. Guest guest
Rose How right you are. I wear support hose every now and then when I know I'm going to be on my feet and/or walking for periods of time and by the end of the day, my neuropathy pain is unbelievable.
