Am I the only one that has yet to get this? As far as I know I don't have any bowel disease. I sometimes wonder, because my digestion does act up quite a bit sometimes, but I think that's mainly due to the PSC. I did have a sigmoidoscopy done back when I was first diagnosed, so unless I've developed a problem since then, I don't have any bowel disease! athan ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
I had no symptoms of crohns and the sigmoidoscopy i had showed no evidence. When i had a colonoscopy they found evidence of crohns. I believe that i've had a minor case all my life. I have symptoms now but my psc is much better, i think due to carbicula, barley green, artichokes, and actigall. > > > <html><table><tr><td><pre> > > > WYBEAR21@... wrote: > Okay, first question is...is there > & gt; ANY PSC'ers out there that don't have UC, Chron's (sp?), or any other bowel > & gt; disease? Guest guest
, my husband has PSC and thank God as of yet he has no signs or symptoms of inflammatory bowel diseases. His dad had colon cancer so he has to go for a screening colonscopy soon, but so far so good. Guest guest
, I'm also one of the lucky 30% that doesn't suffer from UC or any form of digestive disorder. Guest guest
Hi , I've had a fairly extensive workup since my initial presentation last Nov, including a full colonoscopy that was negative for UC or Crohn's. I guess in order to fully exclude Crohn's, though, I still need a small bowel study just to make sure. As an aside, I had my gallbladder out laparoscopically two days ago, as a prophylactic measure against stone disease complicating my PSC. I was blessed to have had it go smoothly enough to be discharged the evening of my surgery, and have been able to spend the last two days recovering at home with family, rather than in the hospital where I'd get much less rest. Hope all's well w/you. Caseyspa ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Caseyspa, just read your posting regarding your lap choley. My husband had the same done just prior to his diagnosis, as he had some huge stones and a big dilation in the cystic duct. The docs were hoping the LFT elevations somehow connected to this, so he had the surgery done here in Staten Island, by Dr. Ferzli, who had something to do with pioneering this procedure, or has a patent on one of the instruments or something. How great it is to avoid an open procedure, no drains or big incisions to deal with. I hope you are on the mend and recover as quickly as he did. He was asking for something to eat as soon as he woke up. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
