Guest guest
OK, Diabetics, I have started weight training, and have read " The Ketogenic Diet " . I am thinking of ADDING CARBS in the form of an apple before working out. The apple should enable me to rebuild glucogen stores, and be LESS calories than I burn working out. But how will this effect my overall blood glucose? Comments Please!

Muscle is metabolically active, whereas fat is just dead weight our frames must drag around. My only caveat about fruits is the fructose they contain has a habit of spiking triglyceride levels, so that is something to watch for. (Generally, the juicier a fruit is, the carbier it is.) A cup of chopped apple has about 19 grams of carbs, 3-4 grams of fiber. Berries tend to be lower-carb than many other fruits. Susie
