Guest guest
Hi Charnel, I live in SW Washington and Dr. Wehby did my 12 yr old daughters surgery 3 weeks ago. She is WONDERFUL and very knowledgeable about tethered cord. She is caring, loving and respectful to her patients and parents. Her PA is Hume who is also wonderful. Your children will receive the utmost care from them. I also love Legacy Emanuel Children's Hospital. I have nothing negative to say. I've met a few parents online who also have great things to say about Dr. Wehby. Several nurses at Legacy said wonderful things as well. As far as the Chiari malformation, I've heard she isn't that knowledgeable, but we haven't seen her for that *whew*. I have heard she has good recommendations though. When is your appt.? My daughter goes for a follow-up on Oct. 2nd. Good luck and please keep us posted. Connie (Sara's mom)
Guest guest
Hi Joni, I know that sense of relief! When Dr. Wehby told us about Sara's tethered cord, Sara cried and ran out the door (8 1/2 yrs of fighting with doctors to find out what was wrong...she doesn't like doctors now), and I cried too. Dr. Wehby put her hand on my shoulder and said how sorry she was about the long journey we've been through. I told her my tears were of 'relief' and happiness because we finally found a caring doctor who understood what I've been trying to say for years!! Please give a hug and kiss for me! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers, please let us know how surgery goes. Connie (Sara's mom)
Guest guest
Hi Charnel, I am glad you found your way here. Dr. Wehby is also mentioned in a book about a boy named Sam. (The book is not about tethered cord. It does talk about Dr. Wehby's compassion and tenacity for her patients.) http://www.penguin.ca/Book/BookFrame/0,1007,,00.html?id=0399149333 How soon do the girls see Dr. Wehby? 's mom New here I have three children my middle daughter (a 3yrs) has been just diagnosed with tethered cord among a host of other thing and my oldest (Machenzie 5yrs)is currently being tested for it and I am sure she also has it. We live in Oregon outside of Portland and the girls are scheduled to see Dr Wehby for the teathered cord. Is anyone out there in the area and have experience with Dr Wehby. Our pediatrition says she is one of the best in the country. Also does anyone have experience with Dr Wehby and her stance/experience with Chiari malformation. I have it and highly suspect that my daughters also have it from thier symptoms and from looking at a's MRI. Any info would be much appriciated. Guest guest
Hello there, You'll find a lot of help here. I too was raised by my divorced BPD nada who kept me away from my father by her clever manipulations (all the time announcing to everyone that I was always free to do as I pleased). I'm reading a good book at the moment " Codependents' Guide to the 12 Steps " by Melody Beattie, which is based on the Al-Anon & Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Step Program you mention so you're probably very familiar with these. Main thing I'm learning (and I found this book has helped a lot with that) is that you have to be good to yourself during this recovery process - always be patient and gentle with yourself, and trust that you will make it through and come out stronger. It is such a difficult and scary time when actually coming face-to-face with these issues. It's good to try and pamper ourselves a bit in these hard times (as sometimes we're so used to thinking we don't deserve it!) Good luck with everything. > > Hey guys, > > I just joined the site. Guest guest
Tawny, Thank you for the " Welcome " . I am on 120mg. of Cymbalta, supposed to help with the pain as well as depression. I also take 1 mg. of Klonopin at noon, I have flexeril every 4 hours prn. My nightmeds include... 600mg of Seroquel, 2mg of Klonopin, 10 mg. flexeril, and my hormone *Estratest HS*. I was on Ultram for pain but the Dr. took it away saying it was contraindicated with the cymbalta... Needless to say that didn't help me much with the pain. It's worse than ever. I've been struggling hard all weekend. The Cymbalta and Klonopin are supposed to be my " pain meds " . Shrug, I have no idea. I go see him a week from tomorrow. I'm also having Kidney probs. I have 14 stones. Passed one a week ago and now passing gravel as they put it. Talk about PAIN... OMG I'd rather have 10 babies at once!!! I'm not sure if the Cymbalta and Klonopin during the day are making me so tired or if it's the night meds still clinging to me when I wake up... At any rate I'm sooooooo freaking tired!! We'll see what he says next week. Gentle Hugs, > > Welcome , > > We all have different problems, but we do have one thing in > problem, " PAIN " !!!! What type of med are you taking for depression? Guest guest
Hi , Sorry your in so much pain. You might try calling your doc's office, and see if you can't get in earlier, or they can give you something else. How long have you been on Cymbalta? If it's like other anti- depressant meds, it could take awhile to start working. That is a fairly new med, so I don't know much about it, but just the commercial on TV. Someone did tell me it's kind of expensive, so out of my circle. I was on Ultram for a short time, it did nothing for me. He needs to give you something that will really help you. I can't imagine how much pain your in passing all those stones, I'm so sorry. It seems like you should be in a hospital. If he does nothing, and your in a lot of pain, go to the ER. You take care, and I'll be praying for you to get some relief, hugs Tawny
Guest guest
Hi , A little clue for your PM doc or who ever told you that Cymbalta works for " pain " . Cymbalta works for Neuropathy pain, NOT pain in general. This is from my Psychiatrist! And he has you on the right dose to help with Neuropathy, IF you have that, but it won't help Fibro pain, or any other kind of pain, except Neuropathy! I get so mad at docs trying to avoid giving adequate pain meds, I just want to scream! Sorry , not taking this out on you, it just makes me sick, docs are such cowards anymore and I wish more of them would get sued these days for NOT treating pain. It is a chronic illness just like anything else. And patients deserve to be treated for this illness, just as they are for diabetes or anything else. Grrrrr they make me so mad!! Ok, that feels better! Good luck on getting pain management , I'll keep you in my prayers. Tommie Re: New Here Tawny, Thank you for the " Welcome " .
