Taking Prednisone - Bitter Taste

Hi everyone.

Can I ask what most people take their Prednisone with? I am

nauseated by the bitter taste that it leaves in my mouth. I can't

have sugar, and am taking it with flat diet pop right now. I also

eat something before and after to help prevent nausea.

Dear ,

Hi, I have been off & on for a long time now on this group. I know you will

think this sounds funny, but I have grown to " like " the taste of the

prednisone?????? I take it after breakfast or a larger meal ie cereal & toast;

eggs &

bagon, etc. I then swallow it with a full glass of water, and try to follow

up with a second glass(if time allows). I know that pred has serious side

affects, I have had a healing problem with tongue surgery that really brought

me down becaause of the pred, but it gives me a quality of life that nothings

else does so far. I would try the 2 glasses of water instead of diet pop,

even though the pop is flat it may be dissolving it sooner that you want it

to? Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Gentle Hugs & prayers,

Carol M. in CA

Hi ,

I take most of my meds with milk. I would think the carbonation of the

pop might start to dissolve it quicker so I suggest water or a little

milk if you can drink it. I hate when the prednisone doesn't go down

right. It is awful tasting stuff I'd agree.

I take it with milk. Mainly, because it leeches calcium from your system

and it should 'always' be taken with food. Never have had the nausea

problem. Maybe it's because milk coats the stomach. And I don't think

that it tastes any bitter than a lot of other meds or vitimins or herbs.

Maybe your taste buds are more sensitive to that kind of thing.

Sorry I can't help.
