Guest guest
DEAR JIM I am sure all of us here have encountered this fear of inflation. i certainly did and found a simple solution; years ago, i started traveling around the country giving lectures n sometimes i wld get standing ovations etc. and i knew i was in danger of inflation! so i took to turning my back on the audience and clapping up to the unseen wisdom of my teachers because wisdom comes through us, not out of us. no sooner done, the problem was solved - i gave it all to my 'divine guest', to whom it rightly belonged. as everyone alive has a divine guest but may be unconscious of it, just the act serves as a cure. I think i have already shared what to do when people call this old lady wise...........i say i am wise in only one respect: I KNOW FOR SURE HOW MUCH I DON'T KNOW!! hope this helps, old lady ao ps my caps aren't woiking btw i think i may have written about this in my blog; here's the link; CREDO Deborah & all, During our recent exchange under the topic Holding the Opposites I understood, or misunderstood, whichever the case, that you believed my words betrayed an inflation. I denied even the possibility, but now know I was wrong. Because my follow-up to the denial was accusatory, or at least suggestive of accusation, I sincerely apologize for not giving sufficient thought to your words. I’ve always thought inflation consisted at least in part of a sense of hubris, which was not present; hence my denial. Yet in fact I had documented in October of 2010, from a dream, a situation of the self being assimilated to the ego. (A stone became embedded in my foot. I knew I’d have to remove it someday.) This condition results in inflation. But I promptly forgot the interpretation until just the other day when I dreamt that someone removed a stone from my foot, which of course linked back, refreshed the memory, and has led to this letter. I don’t believe this latest dream indicates that the source of my inflation has been corrected, but what must occur before it does. I’ve read what Jung has to say in Aion, particularly para 47, but it’s very general. Therefore, my reason for writing this, other than simply subjecting myself to a bit of public moral defeat and correcting a wrong, is to seek the wisdom of anyone in the group who has dealt with this situation. In para 47, relating to the ego assimilating the Self, Jung says "the world of consciousness must now be levelled down in favour of the reality of the unconscious." I began with a very deficient ego, so that is a strange turnaround. Also, I think I talk too much about the magic and mystery of the unconscious. So there is something I'm just not getting here. I have very strong sensation. Could that be the problem? I wouldn't know what to do about that. If I seem to be making everyone my analyst, I also don't take anything on that I don't consider carefully first, so don't be afraid of steering me wrong. Guest guest
Thank you Alice. I wish I were afflicted with ovations, but it's just the opposite, I'm afraid. I know you're quite right about what to do when one is too much admired, and certainly I know that even the greatest artist alive is only a conduit of the god within. But I can't tell if I'm too much of a slacker or too conscientious, and you know there's a world of difference between the two. So I have a 50-50 chance and maybe I can try one half and buckle down more, or the other and go to seed. (I'm not certain I've not tried that already.) I've got your blog bookmarked on my computer now, and thank you. Is there anything you don't do or haven't done? Guest guest
Without a lot of background, I dreamed this morning that I was attending a Jung Institute Workshop. It took the director to give me a clear gel-like overlay to allow me to read my locker number from the deeply carved metal strip I had been given. The locker number was 108(!). I said to a friend: "this all is a way to keep monkey mind busy, while the Eternal Self rests in the Tao." I love myth, symbol, Jung as a path to radical acceptance and it does keep my monkey mind busy--and, yes, the Self rest in All That Is. ...and so it is, Blessed Be!
