Guest guest
 Is the stimulator you are talking about something that has water in it or somehing? And it will set for heat or cool? If so, my son-in-law just got one last week. I haven't seen it yet, but he just loves it!  Sandy ________________________________ To: Hugs-N-Pain Sent: Sun, January 16, 2011 7:00:02 PM Subject: Support and ignoring rudeness..... was RE: On Behalf Of  Aren’t we all on this list to look for support? I am going to the surgeon’s office Feb 7 for the first meeting to talk about getting a Spinal Cord stimulator. I’m really nervous about it…..it’s not something that I had really considered, but the expert in surgical intervention believes that it will help me. I have RSD in my right side and have recently been diagnosed with a herniation of my L4/L5. The herniation is new, but the RSD I’ve had since 1992….they told me back then that I’d be in a wheel chair in 6 months……*knock on wood* I’m not in a chair all the time, just when I have to go out of the house…… Anyone on here have a Stim that can tell me what you’ve been through and if you feel it was worth it? The Pain management doctor that regular doctor sent me to said he didn’t believe that a pump was going to help the RSD, but he felt a Stim would. I’m going back to see him Tuesday, and BOY am I going to talk to him. Two months ago, he did a lumbar sympathetic block that worked WONDERFULLY! I had 15 hours of TOTAL RSD relief….the rest of the pain was there, but the RSD was GONE for 15 hours! I was in heaven…yes, my pain came back, but it was LESS than normal for the rest of the month. Then, last month, when I went back and told him how WONDERFUL the relief was, he decided to try a DIFFERENT block to see if it worked even BETTER…….. FAIL! NO relief, NONE at all…..he did injections above and below the herniation, despite my telling him that the herniation is only a few months old…. So when I go in Tuesday, I’m going to try and get him to do the Lumbar Sympathetic Block AGAIN…..since it worked and there is a chance that they will “stack†and give more relief…… Marta, AR
Guest guest
No, this one is inside the body….they will set the electrodes into my spine, then place a control in the cheek of my butt, under the skin…..it’s called a Spinal Cord Stimulator… Marta, AR If you cannot be a poet, be the poem. ~ Carradine From: Hugs-N-Pain [mailto:Hugs-N-Pain ] On Behalf Of sandy almo Sent: Sunday, January 23, 2011 1:49 AM To: Hugs-N-Pain Subject: Re: Support and ignoring rudeness...../ Marta Is the stimulator you are talking about something that has water in it or somehing? Guest guest
Actually, in a way I AM looking forward to it…..if it works, and it lowers my pain even a little bit….then I am really praying for it. Now, I am NOT looking forward to the pain of the surgery or recovery…but if it works, then I’m HOPING it will all be worth it. The real fear I have is that the surgery puts the RSD into overdrive and it spreads……that is my biggest fear.
