Guest guest
I'm leaning towards lactose intolerance since it runs on my Dads side of the family. I got the diabetes from my Moms side. Tim my roommate/other half has the same problem and he isn't diabetic. At 10:15 AM 5/20/2004 -0400, you wrote: >pat is correct Lynda. in many diabetics it is a form of neuropathy that >can be reversed with tight blood sugar control. in your case lynda, I am >betting it would reverse if this is what is going on. Guest guest
I take my Lantus every day at around the same time at night at 9:00PM plus or minus an hour. The fruit punch taste great as well as the watermellon! Low or no carb snacks are just fine to munch on. I like celery, cheese, and pork rinds for snacks. lantis > > > > > > Hi , > > > > My Dr. has me taking the lantis in the morning with that shot. Guest guest
I can tell you already without drinking water that yes to all three signs. About 10-15 minutes after eating eggs I get a watery taste in my mouth and then up comes phleghm never food. i was told by my dr. not to get any egg based injections either. This was found out the hard way by ending up in the hospital with a slight case of mumps after getting the shot in high school. Lets just say my Dr. and health department became very well acquainted and it was put in my school records no more injections without Drs. notification and written okay. Does this stop me from eating eggs, no just only have them once in a while and then take Gaviscon after eating them and that helps tremendously. Guest guest
I'm really not sure, but we think it might be the yellow part of the egg. I just know she is allergic and also she cannot have the flu shot. Ruby she also is not diabetic. lantis > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >Hi , > > > > > > > > > >My Dr. has me taking the lantis in the morning with that shot. Guest guest
It is good to have Gaviscon on hand, since it helps. However, if I were allergic to eggs, I would strive to eat none of them in any form including cakes or cookies. lantis > > > > > > > > > > > >Hi , > > > > > > > >My Dr. has me taking the lantis in the morning with that shot. Guest guest
yup, I agree, a few experiments would be best. I think Bernstein recommends 3 if not mistaken. Guest guest
fruit punch is the best! smile. There is no such thing as snacks or exchanges when you carb count. All you do is carb count and eat your meals and dose H accordingly. You eat your meals 4 to 5 hours apart since humalog takes 4 hours to be out of your body. There is never a need for an afternoon snack or mid orning snack since you are not going low from lantus/long acting. those snacks are from the long acting insulin you are on in the 70/30 that has a peek. Recall, lantus has no peek in it and you only get a peek from Humalog in 2 to 3 hours past taking it so that makes managing your sugar a snap. You should only be on 1 dose of lantus typically taken at 8 PM and then use humalog to cover your carbs. I can help you figure out your humalog to carb ratios for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is simple, for example, looking at breakfast, start by eating 1 slice of bread that has 15 grams in it. Just have a sighted person read the bread label to you. It will say 1 slice has 15 or 16 grams. If yors doesn't, get a loaf that has 15 or 16 grams in it but no more or less. At breakfast, Dose 1 unit of H and eat the bread and 2 hours later get checked. If you are 120 or less then you know it is 1 unit of humalog per 15 grams for breakfast. If your 2 hour test is over 120, like 140, then you up the humalog to 2 units the next morning and eat the 15 grams in the bread again. Two hours past eating the 15 grams and dosing the H you get checked and if 120 or less, then you know you got it! You do this experiment for each meal... breakfast, lunch, and dinner since the amount of H you take per 15 grams could be different for each meal. Typically this only takes about 3 days to figure out accurately. Mine is 1.5 units of H per 15 grams for breakfast, 1.5 units per 15 at lunch, and 2 units of H per 15 for dinner. I just did this with Wayne on the list and his is 2 units of H per 15 for breakfast, 1 unit of H per 15 grams for lunch, and we still have to figure out dinner which we are working on. This experimenting typically takes no more than 3 days. Hope this makes sense. Ask me any questions you have. If you run your pre meal sugar of 80 and your 2 hour post meal sugar of 120 or less via dosign H and carb counting, your a1c will be 5.0 to 5.3 and you will not have any diabetic complications since the sugar isn't in your blood to eat at your organs. BTW there is o such thing as exchanges, only carb grams. You read the carb grams per servign on your foods/labels. I.E your granola bar, look at the label on the box and it will tell you how many carbs are in it. Once you knwo how many units of H to take per 15 grams, you coudl could cover that granola bar accurately via dosing the H and yoru 2 hor post meal test will be 120 or less keeping that a1c level at 5.0 to 5.3 while you are eating foods you enjoy. It's all abotu carb grams Lynda, nothing else matters, just carb grams since that is what humalog is for... to keep sugar down from carbs. Guest guest
, Have you tried Egg Beater? They are just the white of the egg as most people are allergic to the yolk. Guest guest
Hi, You can snack, but ususally only on non-carb food. If you are on humalog insulin, you can give yourself a shot to cover any carbs you eat as snacks. Re: lantis Hi , I take 15 units in the morning and 8 units at supper and 8 units of the Lantis with my morning shot. I will ask him about transferring the lantis to night. My girlfriends father is also taking lantis and he takes his at bedtime. Do you snack during the day also with the carb diet? Tim picked up two 10 count packets for my purse and car and the big bottle of glucose tablets at Walmart today. I think he said they are fruit punch.
