Guest guest
Methadone made me extremely ill. I couldn't stay awake, and it caused me to retain so much water that I had water around my heart. The docs said they hadn't seen anything quite like it before. My legs and feet were so swollen I couldn't wear socks or shoes, I was bright red all over, and I was having some extreme stomach problems. Of course, I was on a ton of other meds at the time including Percocet and Vicoden along with Valium so who knows whether it was the meth, the other meds, or a combination of all of the above. The other issue that came up later was that some acquaintences of mine thought I was a recovering drug addict because I had taken Methadone. I had no idea it was used for rehab meds and I was so embarrassed. I had just begun hanging out with this group of people at the time and I became an outcast. That was probably a good thing since they were so judgemental but it hurt terribly at the time. Guest guest
Charlotte, I just wanted to tell you my embarrassing story about Methadone. I went in for arthroscopy knee surgery and the doctor knew about all my meds and that I was on methadone for pain. Well he forgot to tell his Asst. and the poor doctor came in and ask if I really wanted the Vicoden for after the surgery and Mom and I both said " YES " . Then he came back in and ask again. This time I ask mom what is his problem? It is like he does not want me to have the meds.... He would ask questions like are you sure this is not going to cause you to have any problems in the future? and are you sure that you can take this now during your treatment? Finally it dawned on the two of us that he thought I was a recovering drug addict and by giving me the meds he was going to cause me to fall off the wagon. I fell of the bed laughing because Mom and I could not figure out what was going on and He would not say anything in front of mom because of the privacy act. I know it is not a laughing matter to some but I was in so much pain waiting on the surgery that I was just so glad something took my mind off the pain.
