Guest guest
Has anyone here tried salsalate? Brand names are Amigesic, Anaflex 750, Disalcid, Marthritic, Mono-Gesic, Salflex, Salsitab. I read that it can increase the effects of diabetes medications, so that would be a plus for me, if it would help my diabetes, too. When I go to the rheumy in a few weeks, I'm going to ask for a prescription of something to try instead of Bextra. If anyone has tried it, how effective did it seem to be? And did it give you an ulcer? Sue
Guest guest
I take salsalate 750 along with methotrexate(injection)..but not as many nor as often as prescribed but would if I was in pain. My notes that comes with the medicines states: " Regular use of salsalate may cause inaccurate results of urine tests. Diabetics should ask their doctors how to test for urine sugar " . It also says it is an aspirin like drug that reduces pain and inflammation in conditions such as arthritis, joint pain, or muscle strains. So please check with your doctor. Once when I had a " flare " I took Aleve too and the doctor said it wasn't a good idea to take that much asprin type drug at one time, to just take an extra salsalate next time. Haven't had a flare up since. Hope I helped :-) BettyMO
