Guest guest
Tonight is one of those nights I would almost take anything. my Percocet 10 will ease the edge off the pain for about 2-3 hours. and then it is right back. I have spent most of my day either on the sofa or heating pad. I hate the nights much worse than the day time. for some reason it just seems so much worse. ~:~Jena~:~ My Home Page My E-mail Re: Sandie/pain In a message dated 12/6/2006 8:33:09 P.M. Guest guest
So the MS Contin does help your pain? The Oramorph that I was taking he told me I could drive or whatever as long as I felt ok. I noticed where you have a med for break through pain. So the MS Contin must not always work for you like on really bad days.?? Maybe I should have stayed with the oramorph and give it more time. My Dr. had given me the Percocet for break through pain. But I was still experiencing a lot of pain. I think I am talking in circles. but I am getting desperate. ~:~Jena~:~ My Home Page My E-mail Re: Sandie/pain The darvocet wouldn't replace the MS Contin. She was talking about supplementing with the darvocet. Sometimes, a different class of drug works on someone when another doesn't. And... I need to find the information she told me about it.. because my husband says it wasn't darvocet she mentioned. I know that they brought up Oxycontin.. but I wanted to stick with my MS contin... and there was another drug. I thought it was darvocet.. but my hubby says not. I'll look it up in my medical files, and tell you which it is.
Guest guest
The MS Contin doesn't do as much as I'd like. They've doubled the dose 2x now.. and I'll probably have to go up again. Percocet is for breakthru. Today, for example.. I had 3 percs on top of my morphine... just to try and dull the pain. And I'm still in pain. Guest guest
MS Conin is Morphine that provides for sustained medication release like Oxy Contin. Same difference there. Morphine and Codiene comes out of the poppy plant...an opiate and Oxy is a more man made, synthetic opiate. Both are effective pain meds. A lot of people have had regular Oxy thru meds like Percocet and Percodan...both oxycodone without the sustained release. As a nurse I've seen a lot of people do well on both. Some people suffer nausea as a side effect for awhile but it goes away in time for most...start off easy like. Drug Abusers like the Continuous release because if they crush it they get a bigger rush and those not very used to the drug, of course, OD on it due to the short term release and the crushing releases the long acting part so they get the whole bunch at once. I thought they handled that by using a drug like narcan that is wrapped in a pellet like substance that won't dissolve when taken correctly and will if it's crushed. Maybe the druggies found a way around that. Dunno...havn't followed up on it. The crushing is super dumb and causes us painers grief making doctors fearful to prescribe it and once a senator wanted to outlaw it tho it is a wonderfully useful drug for painers. The senator got swamped by painers and their families. They didn't like addicts making the laws for us and the Continuous release made it possible for many to go back to work full or part time. Anyway both are very valuable for people who need constant medication release. *¬*.¸¸.·´¨`»*«´¨`·.¸¸.*¬* " First, ye rubs somethin' furry t' build up a charge, then ye picks yer target! Guest guest
Thanks for the info. I am fairly new to the stronger meds. And I am scared of them as well. but I am to the point. Guest guest
Tommie, I agree with you completely. I hate the people that fake injuries to get medications or even those who just buy from people on street. Makes me so sick cause theres so much a dr has to worry about now when prescribing meds ect. And yes we are the ones who pay the price for these fool drug addicts:( > > > ~Tommie > > Re: Sandie/pain > > MS Conin is Morphine that provides for sustained > medication release like Oxy Contin.
