Rose,

It is true we have to decide which demons we will face. You are absolutely

right! I've not heard that term related to our illnesses and treatment, and to

read it here now, gosh, it's like DING! A light went on. lol So very true and we

do have that right to chose. I just never realized it or gave it any thought

until now.

I saw my Podiatrist yesterday, he clips my toe nails and checks my feet. I

talked to him about the swelling and he said I have great flow of blood going to

my feet, it's the coming back out part that's sluggish. He could tell this by

feeling the pulses in 2 different places in my feet. Amazing! Anyway, he said it

is due to the CHF and inactivity. Also said to wear the hose and said that I'm

not on enough Lasix. I think I will up it. I use to take 160mg twice a day, so I

know I can go up a bit. I think I will start with 120mg in the morning and if

that doesn't help any more, I will up to 160mg in the AM. I really don't want to

take the Lasix in the evening as I use to. I hate taking it to begin with and

then to have to be peeing all day instead of just 1/2 a day. lol A doc would

have to tell me to go on it twice a day before I will do that. lol I'm in

between docs right now, seeing a new PCP Friday and my Lasix is currently

prescribed to take 160mg twice a day, so I can play with this and he won't know

the difference!! Aren't I smart? LOL I'm terrible about self medicating, but I

don't do anything I don't feel safe with OR anything that docs haven't done in

the past to me.

I hope you are well today or at least ok :)

Have a great day, Hugs!

Re: Diane, feet swelling

the hose helped the swelling when I was in the hospital BUT they made the

neuropathy go absolutely crazy so opted not to wear them when I got home I

guess U have to decide what demons you want to face

I was on life support for a few weeks my memories the first 9 days are

something I really don't talk about on lists ....It sucked to wake up with

more

tubes the holes.. but they gave me so much morphine so I didn't pull the

tubes out it was kind of neat loll but when they took them out now that

sucked... I really thought a semi hit me I couldn't imagine what else could

cause

that much damage I had staples from my throat to my ankle and IV's stitched

in chest tubes just pushed in I guess ventilator tubes 4 IV's feeding tube

pants that inflated and deflated ... when ever I would start waking up I

would think semi loll... it sure was a experience that's for sure and would

I go through it again? uh uh ...

Rose,

So you are DNR? I have my living will and I will only be necessitated under

certain circumstances. And being necessitated to me means being on life support

afterwards. I can't remember my stipulations enough to tell you here without

getting out my paper.

My choice is to live, but not if I have to remain in a veggie state very long.

Time will tell! LOL

I do find that the Lasix works better on an empty stomach, so I like to take

it first thing in the morning and usually it takes it up to 2 hrs to really

start working good and then it will continue to work for up to 6-7 hrs. It's

peak time is 6 hrs. So I'm right on time as to when it starts working and

when it cuts off. But if I'm really swollen inside and take it on an empty

stomach, it can start working as fast as a 1/2 hr from time of taking it.

~Tommie

I never take it late in the day if I do I'm up all night and that sucks to

I hardly sleep anyway ....they jump started my heart 7 times between the ER

and surgery .. I never signed for that I thought death was peaceful but I

didn't know they would let my husband sign...LoL I could have smacked him now

I have to do it all over again

I have told my children that I do not wish to be kept alive on any type of

machine. After watching my Mother suffer on a machines for 29 hours I don't want

to see my children through that. It is awful to watch Knowing that they will not

survive even on the machines. I learned that My Mother was waiting for us to say

it was okay for her to go.. I learned that no matter how much we do not won't

our loved one to go. They need to know from us we will be okay and that it is

okay for them go. When we told my Mother that tears ran down her cheeks she was

on life support. 15 minutes later she went peacefully to sleep. I think back to

time Something came over me that made me realize she was just waiting for us to

let her go.. I can't explain it or where it came from but somehow I knew she

needed to hear that.

oh Babs, this just brought tears to my eyes. Yes, they need to know. And I still

and will always believe that if it is not our time to go, we won't go. Either

way, I would find peace in knowing my boys could go on without me if I were on

my death bed.

Diabetes is a very cruel disease. Everyone in my family. " parents, aunts, and

cousins " are diabetics. I lost to my brother to complications from it as well.

So, far I have been blessed and it has not showed up in me.

Babs the same thing happened to my Brother. He was on dialysis, And had his

final heart attack. They worked with him 15 min. before they got a heartbeat

again. so that was 15 min with no oxygen to his brain. They told us he would

have severe brain damage should his survive. It was hard to let him go. But that

night he had the most horrid seizures I have ever seen.

My husband was at work when all this happened. He and my brother had always been

close. went home within just a few minutes after my husband got there to

see him. We all still say he was waiting on my husband. My brother was only 44

at the time.
