No, I'm saying eat 45 grams of carbs for breakfast, 45 grams of carbs for

lunch, and 45 grams of carbs for dinner. Eat the same amounts for your

snacks.

yes, you would take 1 unit of humalog for the high sugar. How many total

carbs did you eat for breakfast? You are taking 3 units of humalog to cover

the carbs but how many carbs did you eat? I'm assuming 45 from the oatmeal,

right?

.

For your afternoon snack, eat 2 arrowroot cookies (10.8 grams) instead of

eating a fruit (15 grams). The reason I suggest this is because prior to

dinner yesterday, you were high from eating to many carbs for the afternoon

snack.

When you calculate your insulin and get a number such as 3.4 or 3.6 just

round up to 4 units. If you get something between, for example, 3.0 to 3.3

then round down to 3 units. So, anything 3.4 or above round up to 4. In

other words, the round up principle is anything x.4 or higher.

you actually had 53 total carbs for dinner including the orange juice.

You drank the oranje juice at about the same time you ate dinner so you

should have included the 15 grams for the half cup of orange juice. So, with

53 total grams of carbs, you didn't take enough insulin to cover your

dinner. This evening for dinner, divide 11 into your total grams of carbs

and keep your dinner 45 total grams. Again, for dinner, divide 11 into your

total number of carbs which should be 45.

Secondly, cut your morning long acting back by 1 unit. The reason you are

low prior to dinner is the long acting insulin you take in the morning is

peeking to hard in the afternoon around 2 PM or 3 PM so cut your morning

dose of long acting insulin back by 1 unit to prevent you from being low

prior to dinner.

Thirdly, get a bottle of glucose tablets to take when you are low sugared.

If you had glucose tablets, you would raise your bgs without going high and

sky rocketing. For example, prior to dinner you were 2.5 and 1 glucose

tablet will raise your bgs 1 whole point. You could have ate 2 glucose

tablets and been 4.5 in about 30 minutes then taken your insulin and ate

your 45 grams of total carbs for dinner and not have went real high which is

what the oranje juice caused you to do.

Keep me updated on your bgs readings for today.

, If your BS is up, you do not need to eat any carbs-that will only

increase it. If my BS was 11, I would have taken 4 units of humalog. What

was your BS in the morning after the 11 at night and eating 2 arrowroots?

Re: From Canada Read This

eleven point six. took six humulin n and zero humalog. still confused on
