Guest guest
Hey Cat, Renae here. Not Jim This is a really personal question but what do shingles look and feel like. My granny said she had shingles once & if they ever met from front to back, etc. it could be lights out. Is that the case. I don't mean to sound crass or rude b/c you must be in pain & I'm sorry for that. Also, what causes them? Thanks, Renae > > > Jim, > I am just now getting over a severe bout of shingles. Guest guest
Hey Renae, they are raised scaly patches that are very itchy... my son had them last Nov. When his wife was finishing up college. poor kid. she almost drove his crazy. do a Google search and you can find a pix. they are also pretty painful before they breakout and on some people they remain painful even after the symptoms are gone. hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Renae, I think that shingles probably varies according to individuals but for me I had huge blisters from finger tips to my shoulder. The worst were on the palm of my hand where one blister was about 2 " long and 3/4 " wide. Then there were a few isolated patches of very tiny little blisters. Gosh, it hurt like you know what! Burning, itching, shooting pains, stabbing pains, even electrical pains and then I didn't want anything to touch my arm, not clothing or movement of air. I felt better with cold air though. I am not a doctor so I don't know if it would go all around the body. I was told it would stay on one side...mine was on the right side and that's where it did stay. Shingles is cause by the chicken pox virus. You can not catch shingles from someone who has shingles but you can get chicken pox from someone with shingles if you have never had the chicken pox before. In my case, I was isolated at home for 3 weeks, long enough for the infectious stage to go away. For me, most of the severe pain is gone..thankfully. I still have the itching to deal with and some burning. Also my skin is very sensitive to air and clothing. I have had to think of some interesting ways to prevent my arm from rubbing my shirt. I don't mind the questions, Renae. I never knew what shingles were til I had them. There are NO stupid questions. Hope this helps. I kind of got carried away..lol. May we all have a pain free day! ~cat Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. Re: Shingles > Hey Cat, Renae here. Guest guest
Cat, thanks so much for all your information & I'm so sorry you've gone through all that pain & stuff. And I didn't mind your getting carried away I had chicken pox and after reading up on shingles (after hearing from y'all), I've beginning to itch & I swear I feel some tiny blisters But for some reason, I've had these tiny blisters for a long time. I'm thinking it might be allergies. I had to stay in the house for a long time when I had the chicken pox too. Hated it. Also had the measles & had to stay away from everybody. Never had the mumps though. Thank goodness for small favors Hugs, Nae > > > Hi Renae, > I think that shingles probably varies according to individuals but for me I > > had huge blisters from finger tips to my shoulder.
