Guest guest
I used to see students from the University when the health center was closed eg summer and school vacations (not weekends or night during the school year, they have tedious hours but great for access - 8 - 9PM and 8-5 every holiday and weekend day) and would have to get a referral from the health center after they openedStopped due to the hassle factor and additionally the pay scale wasn't great.Wondering if that route might work for you.Don't know about the urgent care center thing - sorry.LynnTo: From: docsharon@...Date: Wed, 2 Nov 2011 18:25:16 -0700Subject: anyone know how to be designated an urgent care center? I am interested in seeing college students on the health plan at UCI (we live on campus). The plan is managed by Anthem Blue Cross I think. Students have to be seen at student health except for when they are closed, students can be seen at ER's or urgent care centers. Apparently I have to be a designated Urgent Care Center (separate NPI I guess) to get paid for this. Anyone know how to go about that? Anyone know if it is possible to be an in network Urgent Care Center and an out of network PCP? Guest guest
yeah I have a univeristy branch in town and I see them all the time when closed but then I am IN network Actually I get asked to DO referrals to the health center sometimes what a system They actually some, come to me all the time, as there is another fee to use health center. and they will use parents' health insuracne to just come to me why not have them pay, then submit for reimbursement?.... seems easier I used to see students from the University when the health center was closed eg summer and school vacations (not weekends or night during the school year, they have tedious hours but great for access - 8 - 9PM and 8-5 every holiday and weekend day) and would have to get a referral from the health center after they opened Stopped due to the hassle factor and additionally the pay scale wasn't great.Wondering if that route might work for you.Don't know about the urgent care center thing - sorry.LynnTo: From: docsharon@...Date: Wed, 2 Nov 2011 18:25:16 -0700Subject: anyone know how to be designated an urgent care center? Guest guest
The insurance will not reimburse for any " urgent care " not done at an urgent care center (or any routine care done outside the student health center), so that is why they can't get reimbursed from their insurance unless I am designated an urgent care center. Guest guest
Actually the insurances said I could not bill the patient! It was over 2 years ago so is now water under the bridge but I wanted to share for newbies starting out. To: Sent: Thursday, November 3, 2011 2:56 PMSubject: Re: anyone know how to be designated an urgent care center? so then itis the patietns financial responsibility You would get paid becasue you bill them Silly plan to want to spend money in an urgent care but it;s a silly plan and not your responsibility to fix silly plans. See them, charge them and give them a patos discount But you should be paid. Silly . Ditto Sharon. I've helped out people 3 times 3 different insurances and never got paid because I'm not urgent care.
