Was hoping someone could help me. I too have interstitial cystitis and

noticed someone mentioned their IC symptoms getting better with the citrate.

Unfortunately I accidentally erased the message. I had a few questions for

this person, if anyone knows who this is could you please let me know.

If I was the one you are speaking of, I mentioned that the calcium

citrate totally got rid of my bladder symptoms, but those were symptoms

related to the vulvodynia. I do not have IC. Sorry if that was

misleading. My vv irritated my bladder/urethra - and I think the

calcium citrate helped the vv, thus helping the bladder symptoms. I've

heard that citrate can even irritate the bladder of those with IC. Do

some checking before you jump in. There are lots of people with IC that

could tell you more, I'm sure. Anyone out there have any suggestions

for IC sufferers, regarding citrate?

Jackie,

I think that was either of these three: Stacie, Robin or . I used

that info and rushed out and got the Calcium Citrate and have noticed a big

difference in the burning urination. Some on here take 1200 to 1600 mg a

day. Hopefully these are the right names and they can help you more, as I

am new to the Cal stuff.

Calcium Citrate is an over the counter vitamin supplement. I have seen it

come in 200, 400 and 600 mg. SOme people vary on how much they take. 800

mg a day seem to help me but I have noticed others take up to 1600 mg a

day. It tends to help the urine to be less oxilate. It has helped with

urination for me which makes my vulva less sensitive. Hope this helps you.

Ione,

Calcium citrate is an over the counter supplement. It's usually next to all

the calcium products. You should be able to find Citracal there, but be sure

it doesn't have vitamin D in it. There is nothing wrong with vitamin D but

if you are taking the usual dosage for VV then you would be getting too much

vitamin D. I have been taking it for about 5 years. If you have any

questions about it I would be happy to answer them.

You can find it by the name of Citrical without vitamin D. Here is the US

it is OTC.
