Guest guest
The only recommendation I can make is do NOT get a waterbed unless it is one of those firm ones. Rocking and rolling around all night like you are on the open sea is definitely not good for people even when they are healthy.... --- Ritter wrote: > For months I've had fierce insomnia and haven't gone > to bed before 1am - > 3am. Guest guest
, I have a pillowtop mattress and on top of that I have a convoluted mattress pad (egg crate). It was inexpensive at Walmart, I think maybe $15 for a queen and I love it. It is a heck of a lot less than those memory foam mattresses or toppers. I don't know how long it will hold out, but when it goes...I'll just buy another one. I also bought a pillow that is cervically correct made of the same material. I feel wonderful on it. I still have some sleepless times, but it isn't because I'm uncomfortable, it is just because I can't sleep. hugs, Sundra For months I’ve had fierce insomnia and haven’t gone to bed before 1am – 3am. Then I am up by 6 or 7am. I usually fall into bed almost asleep so I don’t have to worry about how uncomfortable I am before sleep takes me and I normally wake only once during the next 3-6 hours. The last 3 days I’ve been in bed much earlier (and earlier each night than the night before). Last night I was in bed by 9:30 but took a little while to fall asleep. I was then awake at least every 45 minutes until around 1 am when I finally got up and took some Benadryl. Each time I woke I was miserably tired, uncomfortable and in pain. My three year old was difficult yesterday and I had to pick him up and carry him a lot yesterday and it just killed my shoulders. Everything from my chest to my shoulders, arms and shoulder blades are burning/hurting. Luckily Benadryl helped me stay asleep the rest of the night. I finally get my body to go to sleep at a reasonable hour and I suffer more than if I had gone to bed in the early morning! Last night was the first I had even thought I would take a pain medication. It was depressing to say the least. Does anyone have a particular mattress or padding of some kind that they use? My son is bipolar and was convinced he couldn’t sleep on his own bed because he woke so many times a night. I now know how he feels – it’s easy to blame the bed. I bought him a twin size feather bed to lay over his mattress and the doc prescribed Benadryl at night, and he’s slept much better since. I can take Benadryl more often, but do wish my shoulders didn’t burn so badly in bed and am thinking about forking over the cash for a big feather bed. We do want a new mattress altogether, so I wondered if a “pillow top” would work as a start without the feather bed.
