It's called Fentanyl. The prescription drug is a powerful pain relief patch

supposed to be worn on the skin for three days. Some are actually chewing up

the patch to absorb the powerful drug in one single dose.

The drug affects the nervous system, shutting off the pain signals the body

sends to the brain. The underground world loves this sensation.

One of its most recent victims died in the Paducah Indian Oaks Mobile Home

Park. It does not discriminate against age, so far its killed as young as 20

and as old as 60.

The patch is simple, clear, and plain. A Paducah pharmacist at Drugs,

Marshall says, " We give quiet a bit of it. A lot of cancer patients

need pain control. People with chronic pain need pain control. "

But the McCraken County Sheriff, Jon Hayden, says it can pack a powerful and

lethal punch if chewed. " I responded to a death scene where there were

actually two people there deceased and upon conducting an examination of the

body there as the scene with the coroner in the months of one of the victims

looked like a waded up piece of plastic. "

Since March, 4 Fentanyl patch abusers died in McCraken County. Another two

died, just southeast in Marshall County.

" The body functions starts to shut down the respiratory system starts to

shut down and then of course the heart will stop eventually, " says McCraken

County Coroner, Dan Sims.

Apparently, the deaths alone are not enough to stop the demand for this

drug. At Drugs a box of Fentanyl patches each cost about $20.00. The

patches in a more potent box cost $70.00. On the street they're going on the

black market for $100.00.

Today the McCracken County Sheriff is pleading with the public to stop

abusing this drug, because if things don't change, it'll only be a matter of

time before it kills again.

Everyone who died from using this drug in McCracken county had other drugs

in their systems as well.

The McCracken County Coroner says in every case the mixture of drugs are so

powerful, they're shutting down the bodies vital organs.

My Mama uses these patches 75 mg. I have been sending her info like this. Her

B\p has started going up for some reason and I found a article the other day

that said the Dura-Gesic would cause high B\P. As well as the terrible night

sweats she has.
