Guest guest
Hi Keliz, Im so sorry to hear of all youve had to go through this past yr and i pray that 2008 is a much better yr for all of us. Im so glad i inspired you to do something home made. A good friend on another list gayla told me the same and it put a huge smile on my face to read both of your emails. Im so glad i gave you an idea and yes i think it does mean more. I am out of the whole kid thing where all you care about is what santa gives and whats under the tree lol- although i have so many awesome memories and i know when i have kids itll be santa time again. But i see xmas becoming so commercial and ' what did you get me' or this is it or i want i want i want lol. Last yr we were also tight on money and i wanted to do some home made items. Our parents of course said dont buy us anything but they all loved the cookies and the fudge and tins full of baked items. This yr we are tight on money again but i decided last yr i want to do my baking as a new family tradition. The only ones we are really buying fr this yr are my parents who we will have xmas dinner with but i found this little general store called country boys market...they sell home made candies, jams , jellies, honey you name it so we are going to put together a small basket for them which i know theyll love:) Sometimes you never know what to buy people so find out what they like (everyone loves things u can eat lol) and put a lil plate or tin together.....they love it:) It is a bit more time consuming and people often realize that (esp if we are disabled) and are greatful for the time we put into it. I am so lucky that my mom moved down here cause we havent been able to get a stove yet and we had fun doing the treats and packing up the tins and i brought a few to post office yesterday so theyll get in time for xmas. An aunt of mine used to make home made xmas ornaments. she would do a family name one and decorate a ball with glitter, glued on things like lil santas snowmen or candy canes and then would do a clay/ dough like one....i forgot what the exact name of the material but it was kind of like clay. She would put in a pretty gift box or bag and everyone loved getting those....there are tons of things you can make home made and im glad you considered doing something like that this yr. Hope you are doing ok with everything hun and pls keep us posted on yourself ok??? merrrrrry xmas hun! >
