Guest guest
hi, you should try the dosage the doc wants you to use for awhile. it can take like 3 weeks before your body adjusts and the side effects subside. but if it works, the leg will feel much better as that nerve damage/pain is what it works best for!...unfortunately, some people just do not tolerate gabapentin. Like me, I was on 900 mg a day (3 x 300's at bedtime). The stuff causes such severe mental confusion that I could not do simple things. And if I went out in the summer, the heat seemed to react with it to make it even worse, like I acted retarded or something. totally confused by simple things unable to function normally at all. and it did not help with my nerve pain either so the docs said stop taking it. If it does not work for you might try Lyrica heard some people have good luck with that or cymbalta is another that is an AD tho, gabapentin is actually an anti-seizure drug the nerve pain is a " side effect " they noticed. good luck, chris v. in indy > > My doctor is still trying to get me on the Gabapentine.  I've been using half of what we tried before at night only.  I've been doing that for over a month and now he wants me to try to increase to a whole one at night.  These are 900mg tabs.  My doc says my brain will try to adjust and I've always worked hard with the docs to make it work. > So many people use this drug without any nasty side effects and it really helps them.  He feels it will help me if we can just get thru the side effects. > I did my first whole dose last night and woke up 4 hours later then normal....and it felt so strange.  Even tho I'm at home on disability I got used to a schedule and it feels odd to sleep in too much.  I spend the whole day on my drawings...and it seems like a usual work schedule.  It helps me from feeling all isolated and strange.  It's MY work. > But anyway....I slept in late and banged into a few walls getting started walking around.  Like I was ataxic.  Some head wooziness and it all passed.  I still can't consider taking this drug in the day time.  He thinks I can get so the side effects will pass.  It's hard to do...but I'm trying. > My stupid leg still burns and stings and itches...which the nerve damange at L3 and L4 due to Osteoarthritis.  Wish me luck... > > Lotacats > > > > “I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.†> > > > Twitter_follow me > > http://twitter.com/LotacatsFunPix > > > > Express Chronic Pain Awareness > > http://www.cafepress.com/lotacatspix/5815010 > > > > Lotacatsfunpix.com > > http://www.lotacatsfunpix.com/ > > > > Deviantart > > http://lotacats05.deviantart.com/ > > > > Facebook > > http://www.facebook.com/#/profile.php?ref=name & id=1030129414 > > > > >
