Guest guest
Hi Ann, That is what I am getting into. I am taking Elavil, Atarax, Depakote, Zoloft for pain management along with biofeedback, and doing the calcium citrate /oxalate route, as well as taking Nystatin and Diflucan for yeast. I feel that the biofeedback and drugs have helped with the nerve/muscle damage, but the irritation on the labia still remains. Just last week I had the worst yeast infection my doctor had ever seen. SO, I think my lingering discomfort is definitely yeast related. I know so many of you must be thinking I'm nuts to do so many things at once, it is a lot, especially with 2 toddlers. BUT I have been in the 24/7 " take me to the ER " pain level for almost 2 years. Although I would feel just awful if I only had POC, it is even more desperate to have 24/7 for so long. I feel that once I am out of pain completely then I can start tinkering back the drugs. Sandi

So I am going to try both (diflucan, nizoral in turn). Of the things you mentioned...which one is for pain? In desperation I took some vicodin...mind you...held off for about 4 months...and writhed in agony....the vicodin works...some small relief that lasted about 1.5 hours. That's what I mean by pain management...I am dying of the suffering. So many women here much braver than I... I don't have vestibulitis, POC, nor do I burn *more* when I urinate...so I am not so into this whole oxalate thing or the biofeedback...maybe I will be...who knows. Guest guest
Hi Ann, I am not taking any pain killers, sorry I wasn't too clear. But the Elavil (antidepressant) and Depakote ( antiseizure) are supposed to help with nerve pain. The Atarax (antihistamine) helps with pain as well as inflammation. I have done about every oral and topical antifungal and still have yeast problems. I took 2 Diflucan pills last week and will take 1 a week for the next few weeks. But I think we need to treat it more aggressively than that. Take care, Sandi
Guest guest
I am finding the yeast discussions on the list very interesting--because it is my pet theory...if yeast got you here, controlling the yeast will get you out... I took diflucan for about 3 weeks, then nizoral, then lamisil with diflucan...had to stop everything because I was breaking out in hives and all kinds of weird *reactions* and I was in horriblehorrible burning pain ...I am thinking die-off...and I was very very sick...again, I think die off...the anti yeast diet....I ws very stict with it--should have only gone with it ....one month...I almost did 3 months, then my hair started to fall out...and my skin became flakey...working on that now...having a better diet and lots of supplements... The burning and stinging has been excruciating (4.5 months)... then we got Elavil on board...I'm at 75mgs. And it seems to be helping--but it's only been a week...so I don't know if it is the elavil or the diflucan, which I started only three days ago-->...and noticed the whitish discharge is less and more normal....less white, more clear... Elavil question....I take mine at bedtime...and usually get up around 7:30 or 8...eat breakfast...the morning progresses, then I suddenly feel overcome with sleepiness...and fall into bed---usually for a good two hours...Is it possible that this is from the elavil? I am then ok for the rest of the day...anyone have this--or could tell me of their elavil experiences... I am desperately trying to get all of this undercontrol so I can go home and resume my life...get back to work...etc.etc. Thanks Ann
Guest guest
Hi Sandi, I've read your posts and was wondering if you take an acidophilus supplement? I'm sure you already know about this but wanted to share the information with you. I take probably the best acidophilus supplement (according to several nutrition experts) that's available. The acidophilus is made by Natren and the formula is Healthy Trinity. You can purchase it at most health food stores in the refrigerated section. It's not cheap (30 capsules for approximately $42). I have to say it's an amazing product!!! I had cultured positive for Candida Tropicalis back in May, 1997 which I believe started my Vulvodynia. I was put on Sporonox for several weeks which cured me of the yeast. I started taking this acidophilus, first one pill every other day and now take it every other day and have been yeast free ever since. I have shared this info. with some of my friends that continuously suffered from yeast related problems and since taking Healthy Trinity, they have all been yeast-free! It's a good product that I think is worth checking out. Just my two cents. Warm regards, Debra deb.leigh@...

I am then ok for the rest of the > day...anyone have this--or could tell me of their elavil experiences... When I first took elavil it made me sleepy so I started taking it before bedtime but then I would want to sleep too late. I started taking it about 7:-00 PM and it would wear off in time for me to get up about 7:00 A.M. But I would usually have a bite (or more) to eat before bedtime because I cannot go to sleep on an empty stomach. Maybe it was the food that set off the sleepiness along with the elavil. I fall asleep if I eat breakfast so I wait until I have been up for a few hours before eating anything besides fruit. It sounds like the elavil is helping you and I am so glad because you have been through sooo much. > I am desperately trying to get all of this undercontrol so I can go home and > resume my life...get back to work...etc.etc. > Thanks > Ann > > >
Guest guest
Hi Ann, I just wanted to comment on your post.......... << I don't know if it is the elavil or the diflucan, which I started only three days ago-->...and noticed the whitish discharge is less and more normal....less white, more clear... >> It sounds almost like the Diflucan is working for you moreso. I've noticed on MYSELF too, the discharge changing from " white " to " clear " . About your tiredness mid-am...I think someone else suggested too, pushing back the time you take the time you take your Elavil, (maybe like 5:00 p.m.). I take mine occasionally past 10:00 p.m. at night....and talk about am grogginess!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck and hope I've helped! I don't understand why the discharge gets clear and yet there is still burning>? My Doctor talks about cellular yeast. And also fighting the intestinal yeast. All of this has added up to a fight for my life. As for the Diflucan and reactions-->I am going to go back on it at 50mgs every other day and work up to 100mgs every otherday...because, as I said--the dhischarge and irritation is very much less. All this, as I was inspired by another poster who had great success. Also my wholistic Doc is convinced this is a yeast thing...and over time, we can gain ground on it. As for the elavil..I backed up to 6P...and still find myself getting up in the AM...and then sleeping away the afternoon...I see my Doc on Weds. and will probably back down to 50mgs... Thanks, Carla : ) Ann
