That is one of the problems with mixed company on these lists is men do not discuss their true feelings because they are afraid they might offend the ladies.DickAnn Meili wrote: Buck, can you tone it down just a little? Guest guest
Here is a decision from the list owner I have been a bit concerned about the street language of just one or two people on the list. I think we have to bear in mind the sensibilities of all people on a general list and point people to lists more open to cruder descriptions. Most people can get the same message over to the group whilst using more acceptable words. It is not the message it is the way it is said. My answer is to moderate people who don't fulfill the kindness rule. Best wishes Hambleton Selby Yorkshire England Re: Re: 7 months postop and still leaking [post-surg... Guest guest
Thanks for the clarification of " street language " , I personally am not offended but others could be. I just thought it was unnecessary to use colorful descriptions. This list has provided wives, daughters and granddaughters with valuable information. The circumference of ones penis is not all that valuable to everyone. --- Metcalf wrote: > Here is a decision from the list owner > > I have been a bit concerned about the street > language of just one or two people on the list. > > I think we have to bear in mind the sensibilities of > all people on a general list and point people to > lists more open to cruder descriptions. Guest guest
Thanks for the clarification of "street language", Ipersonally am not offended but others could be. Ijust thought it was unnecessary to use colorfuldescriptions. This list has provided wives, daughtersand granddaughters with valuable information. Thecircumference of ones penis is not all that valuableto everyone. Considering that 43-50% of men have penile shrinkage post op and it IS a BIG problem, discussing penile size both circumference and length shortening is in order. Most men are embarrassed to tell there physicians that this has happened to them. And most of the emails I have received regarding this matter were from the wives and girlfriends of men, not the men themselves. For more information, go to Google and type in "penile Shrinkage Post Prostatectomy" in the search engine and you will see this isnt a "little" problem. Once again, I apologize if I offended anyone, its seldom anyone can make light of this situation and on ocassion, laugh. Buck
Guest guest
I agree, leave buck alone. This is a man's list since women can't get prostate cancer without a prostate. Guest guest
Sadly PCa hits our wives and partners as hard as it hits the patients. That is why we encourage ladies on to this group. Also many men fight shy of investigating PCa and it falls on those who care round about them to go on to the groups to find out about the disease. Guest guest
That is true, however, I don't feel curtailing the men from describing their medical problems is beneficial to them. The whole idea here is sharing experiences. Guest guest
Thank you Aubry for the link to the book. I am newly diagnosed and still in the research phase of this frustrating disease. It seems I have to struggle with the doctors to get basic complete information or unbiased opinions. I do not know if this has been the experience of others or if the initial doctors with which I am dealing are not informed enough on prostate cancer. What seems to me very basic information. For example, they took 10 samples in the biopsy. When I asked how many showed cancer and where the locations were, they did not know. That to me seems to be basic common sense needed information. It goes on and on, but I digress. You mentioned HIFU as a potential up and coming treatment. Everything I have read this seems to be a cutting edge treatment with much success that I could get almost anywhere in the world except the United States. I understand they are entering phase III studies. Assuming everything goes well, what is a typical time frame until something becomes approved from a phase 3 study to availability. I have a Gleason of 3+3=6 and a PSA of 5.1. An active monitoring is certainly still an option for me but I also realize I the active monitoring is not denial and the day will come that active monitoring will become active treatment. Guest guest
You're right. Kathy and I just have "prostate envy". <g> And you guys better behave because hell hath no fury like a female prostate cancer advocate scorned. Donna Pogliano Co-author of "A Primer on Prostate Cancer, The Empowered Patient's Guide", where we discuss impotence, incontinence, penile shrinkage and atrophy, urine leakage during arousal and sex and YES, even mention (OMG) oral sex. And you can bet it wasn't my esteemed co-author Dr. Strum who was responsible for that. That was ME, guys! Now who has their undies in a bundle over what?
