Do I want to open it with AOL? Something else? Is it in a .zip format? If so, you need to use a .zip extractor, like WinZip, to open it. Later versions of Windows have native .zip file support... I would guess that you are using Win 98 from that (the most common version that does not have native .zip support). You can get WinZip at http://www.winzip.com/ Soon, Firebird will have an installer like Mozilla does, so it will be less of a problem for beginning users then. Just download and install WinZip, then use that to extract Firebird. Move the MozillaFirebird folder to your \Program Files folder (just drag it and drop it), and it is installed. It will create its own settings directory automatically. I am sure this seems like kind of a pain, but once it is installed, you don't have to worry about it anymore. If all else fails, the regular Mozilla suite has an installer, so you don't have to do this stuff.

I uninstalled the other version and installed this one instead. Now I just need to figure out how to use it. I don't have a clue, and feel stupid, just like when I first got the computer. It is at: I was aware that there was an experimental installer, but I had not tried it, so I was not sure how well it worked. If it was an official installer, it would be on mozilla.org, not mozdev.org... but if it works, great.
