Guest guest
I'm a sugarholic too, I found that honey nut cheerios are sweet and not bad on calories. Or these peanutbutter rice cake 100 calorie packs, they are sooooo good. ________________________________ To: Hugs-N-Pain Sent: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 11:09:37 AM Subject: Re: Ok, weird question..... Guest guest
Ah, yes, sugar..yum, if only I could control myself from buying it in the first place and keep it out of the house. I'm on Lyrica too, which is famous for weight gain & swelling. I don't use that as an excuse because I know what causes weight gain, what to do about it, ect. but the Lyrica does not help at all and I've heard many people say it caused intense sugar cravings. When we're healthier I believe the weight is easier to keep off. Take care, Prayers for less pain & more sleep! > > > Hi everyone! > The group has been so busy lately; I've been trying to keep up but have > fallen behind. Guest guest
hi Alanna, hahaha....sorry 'bout that Since I have been on antibiotics for all my abcesses in my mouth my teeth haven't been hurting so bad, I can chew a little on the left side, very little. The right lower back molar was a root canal and now it is broke down all the way to the gum and jagged, my poor tongue has been through alot! I couldn't eat the icecream and sweets until the antibiotics kicked in and boy now I can't stop! I am brushing my teeth several times a day too. A week from thursday they are supposed to pull out 3 teeth (I know I keep repeating this...lol...) and that is just a start on my way to dentures. I just don't know if I can handle all this online research of the medical stuff I need to know before I go to see back/leg pain specialists. Heck, I have to sit on my sciatic nerve just to research....lol...boohoo.. Yes I have heard that food tastes better after you quit smoking. I only smoked for a few years. I do miss it sometimes. I have always loved chocolate but yes the Prednisone must have really kicked in my appetite for icecream and chocolate pudding, fudge topping, whipped cream on top, OMG make me stop!! LOL! :-0 yes, thank goodness I carry my weight somewhat well, I am tall enough to wear it decently. You made me laugh! I needed that! My last Prednisone is tomorrow, lets hope the rash doesn't come back from the Chantix. My lungs and heart needed a break from smoking anyways, but now I am sort of binging on sweets! I think I will wait a couple of weeks before I do my fasting because next week is too busy for me. Bandon this Friday, next tuesday is Walmart, Coos Bay, then following Thursday is 3 teeth pulled!! eyeyeyeye, I don't believe it will be that bad though. I have had dentist go in my mouth and break/crack my teeth before, just give me plenty of novacaine (sp?). Gosh, they better not give me a prescription with some weak butt vicodin for the pain afterwards when I am used to taking stronger meds than that. They will understand that won't they?? Please tell me they will and not give me any hassles.....I am tired of all these medicine hassles. What I would do if I were you Alanna is to get something sweet and just try to eat it on the side of your mouth that doesn't bother you so much. You know what? I have been doing it that way for many, many years. Never had good teeth, always had cavaties seems like. Get some Amoxicillin, gosh, I am on my 3rd bottle of 3 a day, I wonder how long they are going to keep me on it? Funny thing, I got a cold sore on the left side of the corner of my mouth that won't go away now, figure that one out?? lol gentle hugs and take care, Coleen ________________________________ To: Hugs-N-Pain Sent: Wednesday, June 17, 2009 2:29:01 PM Subject: Re: Ok, weird question..... Hi Colleen, OMG! You are making me soooooo hungry. Prednisone definately increases your appetite - I was on it years ago for allergies and I gained 40 #'s. The other piece of the puzzle is food tastes better after you quit smoking. I have had a sensitivity in one of my teeth and I can't stand anything sweet OR cold. I'm really ing for some ice cream, but it just hurts too bad. Sounds like you're thin enough to not worry @ it. Lucky you! Guest guest
Coleen, Sounds like we are in the same dental boat. My bones are so arthritic and the Lupus is in my mouth, my teeth are cracking and breaking. I only have 13 on bottom and 10 on top and 3 are in pieces now. My ins. only pays $1,000 & I'm trying to hold on til Dec. and have all pulled & dentures for Jan. 2010. That's what I'm praying. I'm NOT going around toothless either. I hate this body I'm forced to live in now and I'll be dammed if I go toothless. Sorry, it upsets me. Hope all of you have a great day. Guest guest
Hi Alanna, I am getting over it, finally; it lasted a full week! My stomach is still sore but I feel much better. Today we are having a birthday party for my middle son, who just turned 14 so I'm glad I feel better. We planned to have it at a park where everyone can fish or swim or just hang out & talk, but now we have possible thunderstorms coming. I hate having big get together's in my house now because I can't clean like I used to, but if it does storm I guess we'll have to do it here. Anyway, I hope you are still feeling good; what a treat! There have been times I've been scared to move because I felt good; it's such a treat for us! Enjoy your weekend! Hugs, .. Subject: Re: Ok, weird question..... To: Hugs-N-Pain Date: Friday, June 12, 2009, 5:28 PM , I had something similar when I was taking Effexor (an antidepressant) . I looked it up online and people called them " brain shivers " . I had terrible headaches trying to get off of it - I had to open up the capsules and decrease it by 1 or 2 pellets a day. I've never had them since. Maybe you should ask your doctor @ it. I hope you are doing OK. Alanna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Ok, weird question.... . Hi everyone! The group has been so busy lately; I've been trying to keep up but have fallen behind. I hope everyone is doing well and the pain is staying low. I have a weird question that I think is related to the narcotic meds but am not sure and am wondering if anyone knows or has experienced it...when the meds are totally out of my system like when I wake in the am or sometimes even when it's a little past my normal dosing time, I get this odd feeling in my head..it feels like " brain zaps " ; I know that sounds weird but that's the best description I can come up with. In my forehead area there is this heavy " zap " that lasts maybe 3 seconds; this will come and go frequently, it seems until about a 1/2 hour to an hour after I take my meds. The only other time I have felt that is when I was trying to get off an antideppresant; I'd get that exact same feeling but it came frequently and after my Dr told me to just take my med the feeling went away within an hour. Ok now that you all think I'm crazy, has anyone felt anything like that???? Thanks & everyone take care,
Guest guest
on your advice I am going to make an apointment with the dentist. I also am finally going to get my defibrillator checked out tomorrow. You have to get them checked every 3-6 months to see what your heart has been doing and make sure the thing is set right. I hate when they do one of the tests on it because you feel like you are going to pass out. But I really need to find out why the pacemaker has been going off so much, it is always so weird when that thing starts going. Take care. Guest guest
hi Tami, ahh, listerine huh? ok, I will get some But don't you think it is weird with me taking antibiotics 3 times a day that I would even get a cold sore or whatever you call it? It is that split in the corner of your mouth. When I open wide to eat I feel it slightly rip open again and again..lol.. I hope the dentist just does his work and doesn't give me a hard time about my teeth, hahaha....I already know I have been bad, and had bad teeth anyways (is that genetically possible? I believe so), and I am getting them all taken out anyways to be replaced with dentures. My gums/teeth are a sad sight when you start looking inside my mouth. I am proud of you and jealous of you that you are so good at going to the dentist! I am envious of you! I also hate the dentist drill and it's horrible sound. I totally white knuckle it! LOL So what do they knock you out with? I have always just had novacaine and that silly gas stuff? gentle hugs and thanks, Coleen ps. yesterday was my last pill of Prednisone, maybe now my big appetite will lessen a bit....LOL...I hope so, my belly is getting too full! :-) ________________________________ To: Hugs-N-Pain Sent: Thursday, June 18, 2009 8:05:56 PM Subject: Re: Ok, weird question..... -- I'm so sorry about your tooth trouble. I just wanted to say taht I know how you must feel. I inherited bad teeth and wound up getting upper dentures when I had a tooth fall out in the front. I have about 5 teeth left on the bottom and one is loose. They had to knock me out to pull the top teeth. I figure that when it comes time for lower dentures, I am only having the teeth that are left pulled. the rest have broke apart to nothing over the years. I was one of those people that went to the dentist faithfully, even though I am terrified of the drill. I was so upset when this one dentist told me that he had never seen such a bad case of perideontial problem. He made me feel that it was my fault. I do not regert my decison to get dentures. It has saved me alot of pain. I hope that things work out for you and you feel better soon. Guest guest
I know the Listerine sounds off the wall but it did really work for me and some of my friends. My Dr told me to try it. That is a little odd with the antibiotics but they say stress brings them out to. Good luck with the dentist I despise going to the dentist my teeth are bad to I have had problems ever since I was little. Guest guest
Well Sparky checked out just fine. I still have 2/3 of the battery still alive, there was actually one booboo moment from the 16th of this month at 2 somthing in the morning. I guess my heartrate went from 60 to 160 in a split second no reason why though. I guess I will talk to my Dr. about it in July, plus my pacemaker has been diverting some bad rythyms and it gets really annoying when you are laying down all quiet and next thing you know you feel a huge electrical thunk in your chest. More fun than should be allowed hehehehe ________________________________ To: Hugs-N-Pain Sent: Friday, June 19, 2009 4:50:55 AM Subject: Re: Ok, weird question..... hi Lesley, Good for you! Guest guest
Colleen, That sounds really good! It will take a few days for the prednisone to get out of your system. I've noticed since - had the toothache and couldn't eat sweets for @ 10 days, I don't crave them so much. I went cold turkey on sweets when I was on the South Beach Diet five years ago, and it was like coming off of heroin or something! Well, whatever you do, don't start smoking again. Take care and have a low pain weekend. Alanna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Re: Ok, weird question..... Guest guest
, He always says he'll take care of everything and then he does little or nothing. Once everyone comes over, it's showtime! He is running around acting like he did everything. By that time, I'm laying in bed in agony and everyone is wondering why I'm so unsociable. It all makes me sick. Thanks for sharing. It makes me feel better to hear that I'm not alone. I have a couple of friends who have wonderful husbands - but it's certainly the exception rather than the rule. Have a good night. I understand why you get angry w your DH (dear husband); that would make me mad too! Kind of like a little kid; they KNOW what they SHOULD be doing but don't want to so instead of doing the right thing they just make it look good. Guest guest
, The picnic was fine. It played out just as it always does. My oldest stepson and his wife came, which was nice. I had someone to talk to besides my sister-in-law, who does nothing but criticize me and my kids. My husband just sits there and says he doesn't hear her cutting on us. I don't know what's worse. You're so right about men being immature. I always say my husband is 52 going on 5! We are having a terrible heat wave - it's almost 100 degrees with 100% humidity. There are T-storms coming too, so my pain is terrible. Thanks for understanding. Write more when you can. Hugs, Alanna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Ok, weird question.... . Hi everyone! Guest guest
Hi Alanna, Good to hear the picnic went well and you had family there to talk with. I am sorry your husband pretends; hopefully someday he will try to understand what life is like for you. How old are your kids? I have 3 boys; 4, 14 & 16. My oldest is a handfull, my youngest is just pure sweetheart & so easy to care forr, my middle is a blessing. Now it sounds like I'm labeling them which is not what I intended! It's just that the teens years have been hard on me & my oldesr, We have been having horrible temps & humididty too (I live in MN) It seems like a lot of areas are having high temps. Evan, my 4 yr old is in swimming lessons this week; at an indoor pool amd the humidity is so bad! Ughh! I hope you start feeling better!! Guest guest
Annenie, I feel terrible that your pain is so bad and that there is so little that helps you. Funny you mention the coldness. I took a Reikki class a couple years ago and everyone noticed how cold and how little energy there was below my waist - as if my Chi were blocked in my midsection. Reikki is kind of like accupuncture w/o the needles. When I can focus, it helps me. Try as I might, I will probably never get through to my husband. I don't know why he is always so angry. I try so hard to make him happy, but it's just never enough. When I try to talk@ my pain, he acts like I'm a nut. He thinks I'm so fat and ugly (even though I try my best to take care of myself) that he hasn't touched me in months. I am so lonely. I should just leave, but he would never allow it. I would love to get to a point where I could just not care. I've even toyed with the idea of having an affaIr, but that seems wrong. I guess that's not how I'm wired. Anyway, I guess that's what I meant. Sorry to ramble on so much. It feels good to vent once in awhile. Thanks for listening to my pity party. I hope your pain is less tonight. Guest guest
I forgot to add....sit her down and say... " I don't need anymore of the criticizm....you know that saying. 'If you havn't anything good to say....then shut it up!' Guest guest
Lotacats, Maybe I will tell her that. I hate confrontations, but what have I got to lose. Part of the problem is she never let's me finish a sentence - like anything I say is of no consequence. Still no news @ my sister and her cancer. Her birthday is a week from Sunday, so I'll send her a card and see if she responds. Enjoy your steaks and have a good evening. Guest guest
Hi Alanna w You mentioned your husband, mine is the same way. This has been a real bad week for me I have been in bed all week. My meds don't help cuz I still feel the pain. He is. Always peeved at me for one thing or another - can not help I am like this if he wants to be mad be mad at the person who did this the doctor. Tonight he was looking for a fight I just went upstairs to our retreat room and was watching tv. I feel asleep and instead of him waking me up like a normal person he screams (DENISE) then smiles says nothing and goes to bed. Nothing like being scared to death. Always telling me he is tired of me and what will I do when he leaves, who is going to take care of my a$$ then? I can go on, It is bad enough that we have to go threw this massive pain but then we have to deal with an a$$ like them. Sorry just needed to vent plus if you ever want to talk I am here or e-mail me if you want. Love and Hugs PS it is hot here SC The mosquitos are so bad that they actually are ganging together and trying to carry me off Lol! Guest guest
Jena Just a question: does your husband when around family, friends etc tell them how bad he feels and he wishes he could do something to make you better, how you and HIM have tried everything to seek help.and then when they are gone he turns back into the monster he wa4 before they came? I hate that, he will be lo vie do vie then and when the show is over he is like a vampire that hasn't fed for days, Lol Just asking Love and Hugs Sent from my BlackBerry Smartphone provided by Alltel Re: Ok, weird question..... If anyone out there can honestly say that they do not catch heck from their husband or wives over our problems. they had better grab hold and hold on to them for Dear Life. as they have one heck of a spouse. In the beginning, my husband was terrible. If I had a place to go other than living with my parents I would have been gone. but I have to think about my Disabled Daughter. as there are days that I am not able to even bathe her. and I need his help..... even though his favorite line is you want me to do it now? about 5 times and finally I just get up and do it.... and pop a pain pill and lay down on the couch when I am finish. my daughter. don't get me wrong, no way am I complaining... but it is like caring for a 3-5 year old that weights 220 lbs. and that is a job. to wash her hair, bathe, shaving her underarms and legs. get her out and dry her and then she can finish up putting on her gown and panties. and then my husband will say just wait I am fixin to give Beth a bathe knowing dang well I have already did it. He used to make a extra effort to be home from work in the morning to put Beth on the bus to go to the Center. Now he usually get here 5 min. after the bus has gone. it breaks my back to climb in that bus and buckle her seat beat. and I am always the one to get her off. I have told him many many times how much this hurt me. but apparently it doesn't matter. as he doesn't make a effort to help me with it. I told me Mama the other day it seems my life is pop a pill and go or do what I have to do. so many of the things that hurt me the most are nothing to a man. such as vacumnning. loading Beth on and off the Bus. etc. but somehow, I end up doing them. ok, I guess I have yak enough. just wanted you ladies to know you are not in the boat alone. I am there with you. Jena Ok, weird question.... . Hi everyone! The group has been so busy lately; I've been trying to keep up but have fallen behind. Guest guest
I have one heck of a spouse - he is willing to do anything he can to help me and he never complains. Sometimes like when he is cooking he says okay now tell me one more time how to do this so we can eat it. God has truly blessed me - he gets upset when he hears the attitudes some guys have - he says he read the fine print - you know for better or worse, in sickness and in health. He has some med problems so somedays are a joint effort to get thru with each of us doing what we can. We can do anything together. I wish I could give y'all some of what I am blessed with in understanding and support God bless you all and hope you have a peaceful, less pain night Peggy From: Alanna Wilgus <awilgus@.... com> Subject: Re: Ok, weird question.... .
