Guest guest
Thanks so much June. Like many others I write because it keeps me sane- sort of my yoga. I am trying to save for a workshop in Santa Fe this summer- to check out a masters program in writing. I have been encouraged by some special people in my life - and now this group is part of that also. Thanks. Hugs, [ ] Poems- Sharing > >! How did you manage to keep your talent under wraps. Guest guest
, that was so great!!! Thanks for sharing your talent with us, Tawny --- In , " Choate " <k.j.choate@w...> wrote: > Dear friends, > Well I guess I can't say I write poetry if I am not willing to share with the group. The following is something called an onda mel (actually each of the " parts " is an onda mel - so three all told.) I explain because the little poetry group I belong to occassionally challenges one another to a theme or form. I can explain the form a little if anyone else wants to try one. The onda mel is a love poem and I wrote this for Valentines day a few years ago.Its that time of year again and I thought you might enjoy it. The first stanza reminded me of an old beau who used to like me to read to him- and I also remembered how wonderful it was to be read to as a child. One of my friends thought the poem was a prayer- the You being God- and I like that interpretation too. Since we all walk together here- it seemed appropriate. > > Presence of the Day > 1. > Read to me on a rainy night, > In soothing tones, > for me alone, > each syllable held tight > > in lullaby of memory. > Safe soft flannel > now longs to tell- > On rainy nights- you read to me! > > 2. > > Sing with me as dawn draws near. > Wrapped in your arms, > No fear could harm > this music rising sweet and clear > > as canticle of mystery. > Each day's surprise > laughs in your eyes. > As dawn draws near- you sing with me! > > 3. > > Walk by me as evening falls. > Thoughts intertwined, > both yours and mine, > Disguised as footsteps in the hall > > down parallels of reverie. > Though thoughts could stray > throughout the day, > As evening falls- you walk by me! > > KChoate 2002 > > Hugs, > > > > >
