Guest guest
Hi Vikki. Forgive me if this has been suggested already but have you thought about the possibility of sjogrens syndrome? Have they tested you for that? Do you have a cotton dry mouth? Sores in your mouth and or nose?? Sore muscles?? Many times and I am sure you know this, that we can have a mixture of autoimmune things going on. I sure hope you feel better soon. Nothing is worse than a sore throat, well maybe nausea, well................I suppose both?! ick! Don't mind me we are fighting the respiratory flu here, and I am shopping for a new Rheumy also. Ahhhhh life is never boring is it. AND IT'S TAX TIME HERE IN THE STATES TOO HUGS, NAN IN MICHIGAN Vikki Wingfield <VWAvon@...> wrote: Well, I went back to the dr. this morning. My sore throat came back again for the third time in 6 weeks. Now I'm on ANOTHER stronger antibiotic, an antihistamine and an anti-fungal medication (just in case that's the problem)! In other words, the dr. has no idea why I keep coming down with the same thing. He's trying the blanket approach. I'm not sure what to think about all this, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I see my rheumy next Friday, so I'll definitely talk to him about it. Hopefully I'll be feeling better by then.... Guest guest
Hi , As a matter of fact, I do have Sjogrens, complete with dry mouth and eyes, as well as RA and Fibromyalgia. It never occurred to me that this throat problem could be related to the Sjogrens! Duh! I'll mention it to my rheumy next week. Here's what has been happening... It starts with just a sore throat, and quickly progresses to include large white " gobs " on the back of the throat and a lot of swelling and nausea. I also feel tired and carry a low-grade fever. The swelling was so bad during the first episode that I ended up in the ER because it threatened to interfere with my breathing. I was put on antibiotics and it seemed to go away. It has come back twice since then in the course of 6 weeks - each time a little milder, but still worrisome. The RA is starting to act up because I've been off the Enbrel so much. And the weather isn't helping the Fibromyalgia any, either. Well, enough whining for today. It's a beautiful day here in Ohio, so I'm going to try going outside for a while. Good luck finding a new rheumy... I found mine by asking the folks on this group who live in my area for recommendations. It's worth a shot... Good luck!
