My diet is really based on salads and raw veggies from the lower end of the carbohydrate scale. And there is some " fiber " in meat as well. I have no problems. Are you also drinking at least 2 quarts of water a day? Lordy lordy girl ... you don't want to drink grape juice!!! And the Metamucil is really just psyllium husk, with sweeteners added. Find the unadulterated stuff. Fruit is likely to spike your triglycerides ... the fructose in it. Susie
Guest guest
One of my rules of thumb is to never drink what I can eat. So I would eat a fruit before I would drink the juice. Another one is, if it tastes sweet, it's probably carby - unless you are certain it is " safely sweetened. " Anyway, here are some carb gram numbers ... 100 grams of juice: grapefruit 9.2 carrot 9.3 tangerine (raw) 10.1 orange 10.2 orange (raw) 10.4 apple 11.7 grape 12.9 prune 17.5 Susie

Guest guest
, in addition to Susie's excellent suggestions, and for the same reason, I take acidophilus with bifidus (beneficial bacteria) and a complete digestive enzymes, along with the flax seed. I feel this is very helpful in maintaining regularity. Barb -------------- RAINBOW FARM UNLTD. Guest guest
Hi, , My solution to the fiber question is Fiber One from General Mills. It gets you off with a running start of 13 grams of fiber in a half cup. My Endo originally suggested Kellogg's All Bran with Extra Fiber, which has about the same fiber content. I find the Fiber One is just a hair cheaper - a bit more in the box, and a little less on the price. (Or a bit more for the same price -- I can't remember now which way it is. Price depends on the store where I get it, too. Hannaford's has the best buy in this area.) Beyond that, I consume about an equal amount -- or more -- with the veggies and fruit I eat during the day. My total fiber consumption is likely to be between 26 and 30-something grams in a day. BTW -- I tried the regular Kellogg's All Bran the other day. -- Hated it! It goes all soggy in a flash. ----------------------- At 05:32 PM 3/15/00 -0500, you wrote: >From: rachel768@... > >Just wondering what you all do to replace the fiber from grains and fruits. >I can get my sugars down with meats and cheeses etc., but I get so >constipated. Guest guest
I actually put psyllium and my powdered vitamins into 4 ounces of soy milk (vitasoy original has the fewest carbs I can find), add about 4 ounces of water, and shake it. Then drink it as my morning snack. It can be a little gritty, but I pretend it is a milkshake. Jan PS. -- I'm a she....
