If she thought she was assured confidentiality by the

web site, then I think it would be a very bad idea to

initiate an acquaintanceship by violating her

confidentiality. The fact that she gave too much

information does not necessarily imply that she meant

to give up the (illusion of) safety promised by the

supposed confidentiality.

I sure would react badly to anyone who called me up out

of the blue like that. She presumably doesn't know the

site told you where she lives. Unless she makes a

corresponding gesture of interest through the web site,

I think you should respect her wish to keep that screen

between herself and the outside world.

On the other hand, I would not pay anybody $50 for that

kind of service. I guess I'm lucky I'm not longing to

find friends.

It's actually a service that is supposed to match up prospective

marital couples. It only caters to male-female pairings, thus even if

I were planning on such a relationship I would avoid it as useless.

I note there have been thousands of marriages of other

than male-female couples recently. We can hope that

eHarmony will eventually expand their scope to include

all people. It would only take just one more question

added to the hundreds they already ask!

Those " services " are designed for maximum profit to them and nothing

for you.

Sucessful relationships from those things are somewhat rare, though

not impossible. Still, $50 can go towards a lot of things.

In my case, $50 could by one of these:

3 cases of Max Kitten, 5 oz for my fosters

9 lbs of raw, organic, " Smart Chicken " chicken tenders from Whole

Foods for my cats.

BTW, Dr. Temple Grandin invented the processes this company uses to

raise their chickens, etc. I was proud when I found out I was

buying something that an Autistic helped to create.

One tub of Instincts TC to go with the chicken.

9 Pollo Bowls at El Pollo Loco.

2, 40 lb bags of Swheat litter for the cats

All the catnip Buttons could eat, and a live plant to grow in the

yard.

The supplies ONLY for school, or 1/3 of a book.

2 pair of Jeans from Lane

3 CDs or a few video games

6.5 pills of Prozac

An alignment on my truck

3-4 rose bushes

An amazing cat tree wholesale discounted for the cats (Yes, most of

my money goes to the cats.)

All of those things and more are worth a lot more than a service

like that.

I did that, just for the fun of it (I like taking online tests of all

sorts), and it came up with " No one's your type, buddy... better luck

next time. " Not that I didn't already know that with regard to online

singles sites, but it was kind of amusing.

Those were not the words, but that was the gist of it.

I can teach you how to do that without having to pay for it <g>... I do

my own.

I have in the past tried such sites, and in my experience, buying a case

of toothpicks would be more useful. It may have been worth it to me

then (several years ago when I was actively using these things) if it

worked, but given that $50 is roughly double the going rate for such

sites, it would have to be a pretty special site to get me to part with

that kind of money. That's 2.22 plasma donations.

I remember taking the eHarmony test awhile back and being told they

" Don't have the resources to look for anyone compatible with you " ,

and I don't think I even asked for matches. This time, it gave me

results. No clue what changed.

The site was probably busy previously.
