Russ and everyone,

Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I'm actually feeling worse

today, so my doctor called this morning and he is going to consult with my GI

and probably admit me into the hospital. I feel like I've just been fighting

it all weekend so I could be home with the kids, but last night the pain was

so unbearable that I was really wishing I had gone in. I agree with you guys

that the sooner I get it under control the better. My friend gave me a good

piece of advice this morning...to let the doctors be the doctors and to stop

trying so hard to treat myself at home.

So, I don't remember if I told y'all this yet, but I've just recently gone

back to college to obtain a bach in nursing. Anyway I've got a huge test

tonight that I told my dr. I want to take first, then I'll probably go in.

If you all will please pray, it would mean the world to me!!!

Hello everyone!!!!

I am back, but I don't know for how much longer. I was in the hospital

for 8 days and got out today. I started going down hill VERY quickly due to

a large obstruction in my bile ducts. My bili jumped to 4.2 and the doc did

an emergency ERCP and removed what he could.

Now for the big news...I have been moved up on the transplant list and I

am the NEXT ONE to get a transplant. Talk about a nerve wracking

situation!!! They told me the news Thursday night and I was very

emotional...not too sure I wanted the transplant anymore. But my doctors and

the coordinator had a long talk with me and told me that this is my only

choice and that it's better to do it now than later when I'm much sicker. It

was really scary to get ascites over night and to turn so yellow.

So, if you all will please keep us in your prayers. and

Calvin are doing so wonderful about all of this, but last night was

so upset leaving me at the hospital. My husband Luke is the #1 best Daddy in

the world, so I am very blessed!!! Everything is going to work out. I know

this is in God's perfect timing and perfect will!!! If I trust in Him and

have faith, then nothing can go wrong.

I love all of you and missed you so much while I was in the hospital.

Good news though...my husband ordered a laptop computer today so he can work

up at the hospital and maybe I can talk to you guys post transplant. So if

you don't hear from me, you know I'm getting the transplant. I will continue

to pray for each and everyone of you!!!

what a shocker to learn of all your recent troubles!

I'm sorry I've not been up to it to come on line for

quite awhile off & on, so I didn't know sooner. You

continue to be in my prayers and especially now

more than ever. Please have your husband let

us know when your tx takes place (when he has

time to let us know, of course) so we will

know and can pray all the harder. My thoughts &

Glad to hear you are home from the hospital.

I am told that a lot of patients react with doubt or denial when they get

called in for their transplants, and that the coordinators basically have to

talk them into coming to the hospital. So this is a normal reaction. But

you definitely don't want to turn down an organ!

Regarding your listing, do you know whether they changed your status to

" 2B " ? Sounds like you might be sick enough to fall into this category,

which would give you a better chance of transplant sooner than if you are

status " 3 " listed.

When they say you are the " next one " it usually is a little more complicated

than that. What they probably mean is that, should a medically suitable

liver become available (blood type and size mainly) then you would be the

top priority patient locally based on severity of illness and length of time

listed.

However it is still very unpredictable how long you might need to wait.

Could be hours or months.

Dear Penny,

Thank you for your sweet letter!!! Thank you so much for the prayers. That

means the world to me. My transplant will be at Baylor Medical Center in

Dallas. Luke has 's phone number and either he or my best friend

will be calling the minute we get the news so hopefully we can

keep in touch that way.

It's amazing the strength and peace that God has given me. He has laid this

verse upon my heart that I am claiming...and I claim for all of you as

well...we are all in this together!!!! " I shall not die, but live, And

declare the works of the Lord. " Psalm 118:17.

What an awesome promise!!!

Also, something else for you all to be watching your local FOX affiliates

for....Our FOX 4 News in Dallas will be filming my whole transplant from our

arrival at the hospital through the entire surgery through recovery. They

are doing a special News report about it. The reporter is really excited.

You can call your Local FOX affiliate and request that they pick up the feed

and show it in your local town and usually they will do it. Hopefully since

we are calling , she'll be able to keep up with us and know what date

it will air. It will be neat to be able to see my own transplant on TV!!! I

think!! Ha!!!

Dear Roy and ,

Thank you for your message. Yes, I received a letter from UNOS to my doctor

saying that I am now Status 2B. When I became 2B, I carried my time over

from the 22 months of waiting on 3....this along with my recent obstruction,

placed me at the top of the list. Of course you are right. It must match

with blood type and size. I am pretty thin, so they think it will take

longer!!!

OH well.....It's in God's perfect timing!!!!

liver transplant is hope for us all. I've often thought

that what we go through to get to the tx point is

probably the worst of it. Are you still on a lot of meds?

I'm on 15 pills a day -- 9 different ones, counting over the counter

vitamins that were prescribed.

Thanks for your encouragement as well. My meds consist of pred and neoral

with several other pills to conteract the side effects of the anti-rejection

drugs. I am taking about 20 pills a day. My main problem right know is

getting my weight gain under control. I have been working full-time since

about six months after the tx. Thanks for asking. I have been reading all

the emails and can relate to most of what you all are going through. I did

not have UC to contend with, however. Thanks.
